HOUSE GUESTS at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gaston, Barbee Lake, are the Gaston’s daughter, Beverly Wallace, and granddaughter, Meridith Wallace, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Meridith, who will be married on Sept. 1 in Fort Lauderdale, was guest of honor at a bridal shower held June 24 in Indianapolis. Those attending were friends and family members. THERE WERE 2,851 pounds of fish weighed in from May 19 to June 8 during the Barbee Conservation Club-sponsored trash fish kill on the Barbee chain of lakes. MARGARET ANN Dyke, San Diego, Calif., is visiting friends and relatives in the North Webster area.
A DANCE is being planned for July 14 at North Webster American Legion. Music will be provided by “Danny and the DooWops.” THIS IS Mermaid Festival week. The Cutie Parade starts at the bank building at 6:30 p.m. The Cutie Pageant will be held at 8 p.m. at North Webster School gym. The 45th annual Mermaid Festival Parade will move down Main Street starting at 4 p.m. on June 30. The Queen of Lakes Pageant finals will take place that same evening at 7 p.m. at North Webster School gym. 'Hook's Plus' program offers senior discount Many people age 60 and over are concerned about health care and the expense that usually results. All Hook’s Drug Store shoppers now have away to fight those rising costs through a program called “Hook’s Plus.” Hook’s Plus senior discount program is for customers 60 and over. Through membership in this program, “Hook’s Plus” members can receive a 10 percent discount on all cash prescriptions, excluding insurance claims. In addition, a 10 percent discount is offered on every Hook’s brand product in the store, from vitamins to facial tissue. Interested consumers should consult their Hook’s “pharmacist in green” for a membership card.

Trisha Baugher, North Webster Poppy Queen, will ride on the American Legion poppy float in the Mermaid Festival Parade. A cookout and picnic was enjoyed on June 18 by members of Tippecanoe Township Extension Homemakers Club. The picnic was held at Webster Lake with Kathleen Weghorst and Clar Brodrick as hostesses. Members of Efficient Homemakers Club met June 19 at the home of Linda Stookey. Myra Turner served as co-hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barrett were guests of Co-op at French Lick last weekend. The occasion was a managers’ convention. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roush were, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Slick of Fort Wayne for a Fathers’ Day dinner Sunday at a local restaurant. Karen Rowe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rowe, will leave for Europe this week with the School Band and Chorus of America. Rev. and Mrs. J.L. Kline were guest of honor at a Fathers’ Day dinner Sunday at a Syracuse restaurant. They were guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Kline of South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Kline and son, Robbie, of LaPorte, and Mrs. David Kline and children of Syracuse called on Rev. and Mrs. J.L. Kline Monday afternoon.
