The daughter of Sonny and Pansy Ray, Jan is a graduate of Whitko High School and has earned a masters of cosmetology. A 23-year-old, Jan has brown hair and brown eyes. She stand five feet, seven inches tall and weighs 128 pounds. Jan’s sponsor is DC Haircrafters. Horseback riding, dance, water sports, weight lifting and creative arts top Jan’s list of activities and interests that she most enjoys. JI IT" 5 ' •' •MISS WINONA LAKE’ — Laura Kay White has entered the “Queen of Lakes” Pageant as “Miss Winona Lake.” She is the daughter of John R. and Betty White, 1308 Country Club Dr., Warsaw, and is a senior at Warsaw Community High School. Miss White is 18 years of age, 'has blonde hair and blue eyes, weighs 118 pounds and stands s’B” tall. “Miss Winona Lake” has been active in theater performing in musical and plays. She is a member of the Tigerettes Rifle Drill team and has been a member of Class Act performing dance group for four years. Further, Miss White has studied tap, jazz and ballet dance for 11 years and is a student dance teacher at Deb Collier’s School of Dance. This summer she is volunteering at Kosciusko Community Hospital as she prepares to study nursing. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, “Miss Winona Lake” enjoys swimming, reading and dress designing. Sponsoring Miss White as “Miss Winona Lake” is Culligan Water Conditioning of Warsaw. ■ If Bk 1 ‘MISS WAUBEE LAKE ll’ — Warsaw’s Jennifer Leslie Woodward will be vying for the “Queen of Lakes” title as “Miss Waubee Lake II.” Daughter of Richard and Luann Woodward, Jennifer is 21 and a senior at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. Jennifer has auburn hair and brown eyes. She stands five feet, five inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. Spbnsored by The Papers Incorporated, Jennifer has won the previous titles of “Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen 1988,” “Queen of Lakes” second runner-up 1988, “Kosciusko County Fair Queen” first runner-up 1987, 1974 Mermaid Festival Cutie Queen, and Woodies Scholarship (threeyears). An intern at The Papers Incorporated for two summers, Jennifer will use this experience as the editor of her college’s newspaper. Other honors and activities include: college dean’s list, college varsity cheerleader (three years; two years as cocaptain), aide for the handicapped, college yearbook, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, high school newspaper (features editor), and high school yearbook (features editor).
‘MISS WEBSTER LAKE ll’ — Sponsored by the North Webster American Legion, Kristina Dianne Besson has entered the “Queen of Lakes” pageant as “Miss Webster Lake II.” A resident of P.O. Box 229, Claypool, she is the daughter of Larry Besson and Brenda and Bob Lashley. “Miss Webster Lake II” is 19 years of age, has blonde hair, hazel eyes, weighs 130 pounds, and is 5’5” tall. She is a recent graduate of Warsaw Community High School. Kristina spent two years in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) which included competitions in business and management catagories. She has also worked with the Special Olympics track competition handing out awards to the winners. '•’l X ■ ■ ‘MISS STANTON LAKE’ — Tammy Armbruster, of Warsaw, is this year's “Miss Stanton Lake.” Daughter of Dave and Fran Armbruster, Tammy is a 1989 graduate of Fairfield High School. Tammy is 18 years old, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is five feet, six inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. Tammy’s sponsor is Barb Trobaugh, a Shaklee consultant. Involved in color guard, poms and swing choir while in high school, Tammy says she enjoys dancing, skiing and just being outdoors. Two years ago, Tammy was named “Snow Queen” for Reed’s Snowmobile Club. Also a member of New Life Christian and World Outreach Church, Tammy is involved in the youth and has taught the preschool class. tsi -rfl MISS PAPAKEECHIE LAKE’ — Jenna S. DeSomer, of Syracuse, will be competing in the “Queen of Lakes” pageant as “Miss Papakeechie Lake.” Jenna is the daughter of James and Ann Cavender of Syracuse and Jerry and Sandra deSomer of Mirriwinni, Australia. A junior at Wawasee High School, Jenna has been a cheerleader, a member of the Wawasee Symphonic Band and a member of the Wawasee Warrior Pride Marching Band. Jenna is 17 and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She weighs 120 pounds and stands five feet, six inches tall. She is being sponsored by Fitness Firm. Jenna’s interests are: aerobics, weight lifting, and water and snow skiing. Very well travelled, Jenna has been to Hawaii, Mexico, most of the United States, Canada, and has lived in Australia for three months. She has modeled for area photographers, Bart's Water Ski magazine and Fitness Firm. Some of Jenna’s awards include: 1977 Mermaid Festival Cutie Queen, various awards in band, first in a Spanish speaking contest, varsity cheerleading jacket and honor roll. Jenna looks forward to attending a four-year college and hopes to land a career in travel, specifically as a stewardess.
MISS WAUBEE LAKE’ — Leticia Zuniga is seeking the coveted “Queen of Lakes” crown. A resident of Route 5, Box 381-B, Syracuse, she is the daughter of Daniel and Lupe Zuniga. The Milford Lions Club is Miss Zuniga’s sponsor. A 1989 graduate of Wawasee High School, “Miss Waubee Lake” has black hair and dark brown eyes. The 19-year-old young woman stands 5'6” tall and weighs 118 pounds. Miss Zuniga has studied dance for seven years at the Lee Anne Stewarts Dance School where she is a proficient student of jazz, tap, ballet and pointe ballet. She has also taught some classes as the dance school. To stay in shape. Miss Zuniga works out three times a week. She is a member of Fitness USA Health Spa and enjoys playing softball and volleyball, and swimming and bicycling, as well. A graduate of Charmaine Finishing School and Modeling, she is interested in modeling.
Melinda Wiseman is 'Miss Little Barbee'
Melinda Sue Wiseman, 21, Muncie, has entered the Mermaid Festival Beauty Pageant as “Miss Little Barbee.” She is the daughter of Bill and Marsha Evans, Muncie. “Miss Little Barbee,” who is sponsored by Noonyen Brothers, has blonde hair, green eyes, weighs 120 pounds and is five feet, three inches tall. She just completed her junior year at Ball State University. MISS WEBSTER LAKE’ — Carmen L. Ulshafer is seeking the coveted “Queen of Lakes” crown. A resident of 1570 Buddale Dr., Columbia City, she is the daughter of Ben and Cindy Ulshafer. Carmen is “Miss Webster Lake” and is being sponsored by Bart’s Water Ski Center. A sophomore at Ivy-Tech College, Carmen is 5’10” and weighs 131 pounds. She is 19 years old and has brown hair and hazel green eyes. Carmen is studying child care at Ivy-Tech and hopes to pursue a career in working with children.
