This year’s parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and the pageant will follow at the North Webster School at 8 p.m. The clowns picture took part in the 1989 parade.
Cuties to be on parade
The International Palace of Sports, J. Homer Shoop Scholarship Fund will be awarding $50,000 in 20-year educational bonds to winners of the Mermaid Festival Cutie Parade and Cutie Pageant. Both events are being sponsored by the North Webster Lions and Lioness Clubs. All registrations for the Cutie Parade and Cutie Pageant must be post marked by Wednesday, June 20. Children whose applications are postmarked after the June 20 date will not be able to participate in either event. The 1990 Cutie Parade will be held on Wednesday, June 27. Parade line-up will begin at 5:45 p.m. behind Society (parking lot and side streets). The Cutie Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. The parade route will start from behind Society Bank; entering SR 13 from the alley; north on SR 13 to the North Webster School; ending in the school parking lot. The Cutie Pageant will be held at the North Webster School gymnasium, immediately following the Cutie Parade. The rain date for the Cutie Parade and Cutie Pageant will be Thursday, June 28. There will be three different units in the Cutie Parade; a walking unit, a hand drawn unit, and a motorized unit. First place winners in each unit will receive $5,000; second place $2,500; third place, $1,500; and fourth place SI,OOO. The North Webster Lions will present a trophy to each of the winners of the Cutie Parade during the Cutie Pageant.
The Cutie King and Cutie Queen will each receive $5,000. First runners-up will win $2,500; second runners-up $1,500; and third runners-up SI,OOO. The North Webster Lioness Club will present trophies to the winners of the Cutie Pageant. Registration for the Mermaid Festival Parade on Saturday, may be sent with the Cutie ♦ Parade and Pageant registration. Persons may also register for the Mermaid Festival Parade in the main hall of the North Webster School following the parade until the conclusion of the Cutie Pageant.
