Mermaid Ball on June 23
The North Webster Lions will once again sponsor this year’s Mermaid Festival Ball. The ball will be held at the Lions’ Building on the festival grounds, on June 23 from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight. This year’s ball will feature “Tuxedo Junction’’ from Rochester. The 10-piece orchestra specializes in the Big Band Era. Fans of the time era can swing to the tunes of Glenn
Miller and Benny Goodman. Dick Helton, chairman for this year’s ball, explains that the band is very popular in the area, “Last year they played at the Warsaw Pavilion and it was sold out.” Helton is expecting between 150-200 couples for the event. The ball is an event filled with tradition throughout the 45 years of the Mermaid Festival. Dancers of all ages are invited to
enjoy the snacks and refreshments. Throughout the evening door prizes and drawings will be scheduled. Those interested in obtaining tickets can buy them at Creative Concrete in Leesburg, the Moose Lodge in Warsaw, Society Bank in North Webster, or Video Time in North Webster. Those requesting more information can call Helton at 834-7018.
