Educational and entertaining, the fourth annual pet week pet show was a gala event. The Milford Small Animal Clinic appreciates all of the help received. MEMBERS OF the Filadelfia Evangelical Spanish Assembly of God are no longer meeting in the old Waubee Grange hall above Bonnie Gene’s Boutique on Emeline Street. The congregation recently purchased the old Church of the Nazarene building at the corner of Benton and Harrison streets in Syracuse and after doing repairs on the old building, moved from Milford to Syracuse. An open house was held at the Syracuse church on Saturday, June 2. A bilingual service highlighted the June 2 celebration with preaching in both Spanish and in English.
SPEAKING OF churches, is there a new one in Milford? Last week this newspaper ran an article stating, “Valley View Church will hold Friendimension Vacation Bible School at the Christian Church of Milford on June 18-22.” The Valley View Church is not a new church in Milford! In fact, we don’t know where it’s located. Maybe it’s a creation of the gremlins that are found in our computers from time to time. a What we do know to be fact is the Christian Church will hold its annual VBS from 9 until 11:30 a.m., June 18-22. And, the theme of the school is Friendimension! Carole Moore is this year’s director. Persons with questions and those wishing to enroll children should contact Carole at 658-9301.

r METZGER SPEAKS ON SOIL CONSERVATION — Myron R. Metzger, an erosion control technician with the Soil and Conservation Office in Warsaw, talked on soil conservation to the Wawasee Kiwanis Club Saturday morning, June 9, at Gropp’s, Syracuse. Metzger gave a brief history of the soil and water conservation service, and of the soil and conservation districts which have been set up as a part of that service. The service was developed with the dust bowl problem of the 1930 s when many farmers in the Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska areas lost their farms by wind erosion. The federal government, in an effort to help farmers reclaim their land and make it productive again, formed districts which organized the effort of the farmers to cut down the loss of productive land by wind and rain. When it first started out, the building of farm ponds was emphasized. Since that time, many other methods have been devised to drastically cut down soil erosion. Such things as lake quality are now being emphasized. The projects are part of the Farm Bill. An emphasis is put on public relations. Success calls for enlisting a great deal of voluntary cooperation. Currently a project is under way to find ways to improve the quality of the water in the Tippecanoe River. Pictured are Greg Long, left, president-elect of Kiwanis, handing a certificate of appreciation to Metzger.
