r 2 I SSiF f Ct * ill Ibol IB fE <"• .. <* wHHHI EASTER MESSAGE GIVEN TO KIWANIS — Dr. Jim Babbitt, pasto'r of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, delivered an Easter message to the Wawasee Kiwanis members Saturday morning, April 14, atGropp's in Syracuse. Dr. Babbitt began by recalling a song which was popular before World War 11, “Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of the Year,” and speculating that the Saturday after Jesus was killed and before that Easter when he rose from the dead must have been the loneliest Saturday of any year, filled wfith dismay and doubt. We have the advantage of knowing what happened, whereas they didn’t have that advantage. They didn’t know what to do. Then on Sunday, the great agony of his followers changed to great exultation, for Jesus had risen! He was alive! The speaker then reminded his listeners of parallels in our living. All of our lives have undoubtedly been subject to periods of dismay and agony and also to periods of discovery and exultation, so we must keep our perspective. Pictured left to right are Greg Long, president-elect: Dr. Babbitt, receiving a certificate of appreciation; and Harold Hazenfield, vice president.
