MONDAY EVENING as this reporter was fixing dinner, the telephone rang. As I hurried to answer it, I startled Bitsy, who was asleep on the dining room floor. For a couple of seconds, that little cat turned into a flying frisbee. She ended her airborne gymnastics by running the top of her head into this reporter’s shin bone. She looked up at me as though I had done it on purpose and went racing upstairs. As Bitsy whizzed past the recliner on her way upstairs, she awakened Fooler, who was napping. In one frantic motion, he launched himself from the chair out into the middle of the living room where I tripped over him. When I finished my phone conversation and returned to the kitchen, there was Fooler under the throw rug in his "pouting mode.” For some reason, that silly cat has always chosen to express his displeasure with us by crawling under the throw rug in front of the kitchen sink. Sometimes he is in there for a few minutes, sometimes for hours, depending on how upset he is.
the Hrynewycz vehicle. Police investigated a second accident on Friday, at 12:50 p.m., at Chicago Street and Syra-Web Road that also involved driver inattention and unsafe backing. Barbara L. Black, 20, Syracuse, had stopped her 1981 Chevrolet Silverado at the stop sign on Chicago Street and was waiting to turn onto the Syra-Web Road.
Bitsy had never before witnessed such behavior. She walked around and around the big bump under the rug. She kept reaching in with her front feet and patting Fooler. She peeked under the rug a few times and finally climbed on top of the big bump and stood motionless. This caused Fooler to "grunt” and roll over, throwing Bitsy up against the cupboard door. Fooler had enough. He crawled out from under the rug, heaved a big sigh and stomped off toward the bedroom. I was really too busy to check on him, but I’m almost sure he was going in there to take a nap on the new bedspread. —o— NORTH WEBSTER Friends of the Library are sponsoring a public meeting at 2 p.m., April 26, at North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Community ’Building.
