Jerry's Carpet and Furniture stresses high quality, low prices

Stressing the “lowest prices in the area” on the wide selection of carpeting at his store, Jerry Bray, owner of Jerry’s Carpets and Furniture, offers his customers highquality merchandise at low, low prices. Jerry’s, located cn SR 15 south of Milford, carries over 70 rolls of carpet in stock including brand names such as Philadelphia, Cabin Craft, Salem, Mohawk and Coronet. “We carry about any kind of carpet that a person would want while we also stock about 25-30 different remnants,” said Jerry. “Carpeting is the biggest part of my business and the thing that I want people to know is that I offer the lowest prices in the area while offering everything that the big stores do,” said Jerry. He added that his low overhead and the fact that he deals with carpet mills directly are two key factors that enable his store to offer very low prices on carpeting. School changes programs to keep meeting needs of students

By DEB PATTERSON Staff Writer The Wawasee Community School Corporation continues to make changes in programs and curriculum to see that students are prepared for the working world upon graduation, as well as addressing needs within the corporation itself.

“When you buy a car or truck at Bob Wysong Chevrolet and Pontiac in downtown Cromwell you receive personalized service from all of our employees,” says owner Bob Wysong. Wysong purchased the GM dealership in 1975, but the history of the business goes back a lot further than that. “This business has been in the same location since 1933, when it was owned by Raymound Silveus,” Wysong said. “We have done some remodeling to meet our own needs and growth.” Chevrolet offers a complete line in a wide range of prices and styles, from the compact to the full luxury model. The Sprint is one of the highest-rated cars for economy, averaging over 50 miles per gallon. Mid-size pick-up trucks and redesigned full-size C-K pick-up trucks are popular in the area, along with new Chevrolets and Pontiacs. A capable service department includes parts manager Rick Wysong; Sherm Leamon, service manager; and technicians John Bennett, Tom Jackson, Mark Pfenning and Bob Hawn, many of .whom are Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified technicians.

In addition to a wide selection of carpet, Jerry’s has linoleum, furniture, pool tables, trampolines, curio and gun cabinets and a complete line of outdoor turf. Jerry, who operates Jerry’s with the help of his wife, Georgia, offers professional carpet installation throughout the area. “We serve the entire area and we’ve done carpet jobs up in South Bend in addition to all around this area,” said Jerry. Jerry’s showroom area contains a wide variety of different items including Flexsteel and Lane furniture, Town Square rockers, dart boards and various other pieces of household furnishings. He also offers the lowest priced slate pool tables in the area. Jerry’s Carpets and Furniture store is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

“Curriculum is a major area,” noted Dr. Roger Thornton, superintendent, who pointed out the corporation is not only concerned about increasing the technology in the schools for those going to college but also for those who will remain in the community and go into the work force. Most of the used cars are local trade-ins which have been sold new or serviced by Wysong’s business at some time. “Our service department is also excellent,” Wysong said. “We do front end alignments, major engine and transmission repair, and we have a ‘sun machine’ for tune-ups, as well as computerized tire balancing.” A wrecker service is also offered, while a Standard gas station is located in front of the business for the convenience of the local community. „ Wysong has worked in the car business since graduating from Ball State University in 1972. He has always lived in the area and graduated from Wolf Lake High School. Bob Wysong Chevrolet-Pontiac has service hours of 8 a m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. The showroom is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the hours are 8 a m. to 8 p.m. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
