Augsburger's stores change with the times

Expansion and modernization have been a staple of the area Augsburger’s Super Valu supermarkets. The North Webster store recently completed a construction project that added 12,000 square feet to the facility. "Basically, we extended the variety throughout the store mainly in the perishable departments (like) meat and produce,” said store director Mike Myers. “We doubled the size of the frozen food department and expanded the dairy department.” The expansion also gave the store enough space to put in a frozen yogurt machine and expand the deli/bakery area. Goshen recently, where Ron Schwartz handles the store director duties. Augsburger’s started in 1936 by Mr. and Mrs. John F. Augsburger in Milford. The Syracuse facility opened in 1965 and the company expanded in North Webster six years later. The Milford store was sold in 1978.
