Krider Nurseries opens new store in Syracuse
Expanding its service south, Krider Nurseries will soon be opening a new garden center in Syracuse. It will be located on SR 13, adjacent to Subway in Wawasee Village. This new Krider Nurseries will carry the same plant materials and garden supplies that are carried at the Middlebury center. With an inventory of “everything you need to start your own garden,” the new operation will continue Krider’s tradition of being a complete lawn and garden service and supply center. The garden center, for both the existing Middlebury business and the new Syracuse business, carries rose bushes, a complete line of bedding plants, hanging baskets, Burpee seeds, as well as container-grown shrubs and trees. In business since 1896, Krider Nurseries has long been providing answers to gardening questions. While once concentrating on the wholesale business, Krider Nurseries shifted to the retail end about two years ago. In addition to the garden center, Middlebury’s business also entails a landscaping department which is a fine complement to the services and goods offered at its garden center. Staffed by Dave Wilson, landscape manager; and Deb Morey, landscape designer; Krider’s boasts a complete design department that is ready to provide detailed landscape plans for the individual homeowner or commercial customer. Some of the services of the landscaping department include: complete planning, in-

stallation of lawns, sodding, retaining walls, patios, sidewalks, and pool sides. The professionals in the landscaping department strive to work with plants that will thrive in the particular environment in which they are placed. Not just concentrating on what is aesthetically pleasing, the landscapers at Krider look to what plants will be functional as well. A balanced department, landscaping services are available for both the individual homeowner and commercial customers. Equipped and qualified, Krider’s landscapers can do both the backyard installation and the bigger commercial job. While Krider’s landscapers do offer both design service and installation, they invite the customers who would like to do it themselves to purchase their plants at Krider. With a strong commitment to providing the best service possible, Krider’s customer contact does not necessarily end with the bill of sale. Instead, the professionals at Krider Nurseries try to continue to give out plant care facts and helpful hints that can be taken home and used. In an attempt to disseminate information into the homes, Krider will run video seminars on various plant topics during the growing season, for example.
