New white sweet potato alternative

A sweet potato with white meat instead of orange and a flavor like an Irish-type potato has been developed by a United States Department of Agriculture scientist. “I made potato salad out of the new variety for a family reunion and no one suspected it was made with sweet potatoes,” said USDA’s Philip D. Dukes. He said the variety, named Sumor, also whips into “perfect” mashed potatoes. Mary E. Hippe of Realty World Professional Group Realtors recently attended the Indiana Realtors' Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI), conducted at the University of Notre Dame. The week-long intensive course features renowned experts on real estate who teach topics such as “Listing Properties,’’ "Residential Construction” and “Financing the Sale.” The GRI course concludes with an examination to ensure that each student has retained the information. In order to earn the designation of a GRI, the realtor must attend the week-long course for three years and successfully pass the examination each year.
