Seniors make Valentines

There were 46 people present for the Feb. 8 Valentine Party held by North Webster Church of God senior citizens in the church fellowship hall. Dorothy Snoke gave devotions. Her topic was “Love.” She read I Corinthians, chapter 13, from the Bible. Place mats with hearts were at each place setting. The hearts contained inscriptions about love. Each person read what was on their place mat. J

Scouts participate in derby

Boy Scouts of America Council for all of northeastern Indiana sponsored the annual Pinewood Derby on Feb. 2-4 at Glenbrook Mall, Fort Wayne. Members of North Webster Troop 3726 participated, and six boys qualified

Jane Shue was a guest at the Feb. 8 meeting of Lakeland Women’s Club held in the home of Dorothy Heller. Refreshments of homemade cookies were served by Mrs. Heller and Carolyn Gephart, assistant hostess. Roll Call response was “My First Sweetheart.” A program about organ donations was presented by Dan Strader from United Telephone Company. He gave a talk and showed a video. The program was followed by a group discussion. New program books were Charm and Chatter elects officers New officers were elected on Feb. 5 when members of Charm and Chatter Club met in the home of Maxine Niles with Lois Blaugh as assistant hostess. The new officers are: Colleen Bryant, president; Mrs. Blaugh. vice president: Mrs. Niles, secretary; and Dot Baumle. treasurer. Lunetta Metcalf read the meditation. Group singing was led by Joyce Phaneuf. president. VIRGINIA PERRY has recently returned home following a six weeks vacation trip to Sarasota and Bradenton, Fla., and McAllen, Texas, where she visited with relatives. While waiting for a flight at Houston International Airport, Virginia visited with Dan and Marie Miller, former residents of Syracuse. NORTH WEBSTER Church of God youth all night party will be held Feb. 18 at the church and H.I.S. House. The film, “Gold Through the Fire,” will be shown. There will also be games, films, pizza, special devotions at midnight, and much more. A pancake breakfast will be served. THE BOY Scouting movement was 108 years old on Feb. 8. NORTH WEBSTER United Methodist Church’s 45-Plus Sunday School Class valentine party was held Feb. 10 at a local restaurant. Following dinner, the group adjourned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kistler for a time of fellowship. A CPR course, offered by the American Red Cross, will be held Feb. 21-22, from 6-10 p.m., at Lucas, Inc., Realtors’ office, North Webster. Part of the cost of the course is being underwritten by Lucas. Enrollment is limited. Call 834-2812 to register. THETA SIGMA Chapter of Psi lota Sorority is sponsoring a variety concert at 7:30 p.m., March 1, at Wawasee High School.
