Semi hits pole, another in ditch
From the Syracuse Police Log is a weekly feature which presents a sampling of the incidents the officers from the Syracuse Fire Department and Syracuse Police Department are called upon to deal with: * TUESDAY, JAN. 23 Police were notified that a semi had just hit a light pole at the intersection of Huntington and Baltimore Streets. After the officer arrived at the scene he requested the dispatcher notify Northern Indiana Public Service Company to send someone to check the pole. Police began a search for the semi and driver, as it had left the scene. It was not found along SR 13 to US 6, nor west on US 6 to CR 29. The driver was asked to be detained until he could be contacted by Syracuse Police. An officer reported he would be busy for a while as the access road between McDonalds and the American Legion would be closed until a wrecker service could get a semi out of the ditch.
