won the meet with a high score of 182, beating out a game Wawasee squad by nine points. VanLue said he couldn’t have asked for a much better effort from his squad. “I thought the kids rose to the occasion and wrestled real well,” he said. “We just didn’t
every member of the team got into the game. “I felt that we were in control the entire way,” Evans admitted. Matt Wilkinson paced a trio of double figure scorers for the Warriors as he tossed in 12 points to go with 11 from Mike Ferverda and 10 from Mike Garland. Loss To East Noble Sounding like a broken record, Evans remarked that a poor start to begin the third quarter was the key factor as the Warriors slipped to 11-4 with a 33-30 loss at East Noble last Thursday. “Like so many of our games, we came out slow in the third quarter and. after not scoring for about four minutes, we never got back on track," the coach said.

Brian Dutcher finished third in the 119-pound class but will still make the trip to Fort Wayne. Westview’s second-place finisher came down with the measles and had to be replaced. Swimmers conclude regular season
By SCOTT DAVIDSON Sports Writer
“We had a number of good perlormances but this was a meet where we would have had to swim perfect to win it and that’s hard to do,” said Roger Karns, coach of the Wawasee boys’ swim team after seeing the squad conclude the regular season with a 92-79 loss to conference rival Warsaw last night (Tuesday). The defeat left the Warriors with a 10-5 mark in dual meets for the Season, including 2-3 in the Northern Lakes Conference. In what was a close meet throughout, the Warriors held a slim 32-30 lead after the fourth event of the night (the 50-yard freestyle) before the Tigers captured firsts in five of the seven remaining events to take the victory. “It was really a close meet and a couple of higher finishes here and there and it could have been a different outcome,” remarked Karns. On the evening, Wawasee won four events as senior Scott Berkey led the way with wins in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Thaddeus Dußois captured first in the 50 freestyle while Berkey, Dußois, Eric Schaekel and Todd Miller combined to win the 400 freestyle relay. “Berkey had a good night, as did Brad Koser, and Schaekel swam like a man possessed,” said Karns. In addition to the first place efforts, the Warriors took second in seven events, led by Schaekel’s efforts in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Other Warriors capturing runner-up spots included Casey Kline (50 freestyle), Miller (100 butterfly), Dußois (100 freestyle), Aaron Dial (100 backstroke) and the 200 medley relay foursome of Dial, Koser, Chris Ganshorn and Brian Kern.
