YMCA Camp Crosley earns ACA-Accredited Camp status
The American Camping Association (ACA) recently announced that Camp Crosley has earned the distinction ot being designated an ACA-accredited camp. Currently, approximately one quarter of all camps in the United States have this designation. Camp Crosley is located near North Webster, and is owned and operated by the YMCA of Muncie. "When parents select a camp, they should look for those displaying the American Camping Association accredited camp or site logo,” said Marge Scanlin, division director for the ACA standards program. “It indicates that the camp is owned and operated by camp management committed to the highest standards established for the campingindustry.” The accreditation process consists of nearly 300 questions that can be applied to every aspect of a camp’s operation. The camp must comply with 14 critical mandatory standards affecting the health and safety of campers. While many states may have some regulations regarding basic sanitary and food service concerns, ACA’s standards go a step further in addressing the areas of programming, personnel, health care and management practices related specifically to camping. Camps must score at least 75 percent in each area of the standards and achieve an average score of 80 percent in all applicable areas. Camp Crosley offers a diverse range of programs for boys and girls ages seven to 16. It is in Bottle brush I found a 12-inch bottle brush to be an ideal cleaning tool for the lint trap in my clothes dryer. The long handle and curved end also may be used to clear lint from under or surrounding the trap. Using it has also saved many a fingertip and fingernail. Leslie R., Garland, Texas
