day, Wawasee will take to the road to face West Noble on Saturday evening beginning with junior varsity action at 6:30 p.m. The Chargers are currently 3-3 on the season prior to a contest at Garrett on Friday. West Noble opened its season with wins over Bethany Christian and Lakeland before a threegame losing skid that included losses to a trio of talented clubs (Northridge, Westview and Goshen) left coach Rick Mathew’s club at 2-3. The Chargers pulled their record to the .500 mark at 3-3 with a 73-71 win at Angola on December 16. ~ Last season at Wawasee, the host Warriors jumped out of the gate quickly and cruised to a 71-55 win over the Chargers in one of the team’s top effort of the season. Leading the cast of returnees for Coach Mathew’s squad are 6-3 senior Doug Targgart who is scoring at better than 20 points per game this season. Also lending experience to the Chargers from last season’s 12-8 squad are seniors Ken Hartsough, Chris Smith, Lambert Beckner and Kevin Hunter as well as junior Mike Becker. The Warriors will reach the halfway point of the season after facing Plymouth and West Noble this weekend and a pair of victories would lift the squad to the .500 mark with 10 games remaining on the docket before sectional time. Wawasee will be looking to build momentum in the next two months before the Triton Sectional is held February 28 and March 2-3.
