Spencer Martin selected for All-State Honors Orchestra
Spencer Martin, a viola student at Wawasee High School and son of John and Leona Martin of Milford, has been selected for the Indiana All-State Honors Orchestra. This is an honor awarded only to the finest student musicians in Indiana who have met the competitive requirements established by the Indiana Music Educators and the American String Teachers Association. This orchestra will be featured at the Indiana Music Educators Convention to be held on January 13 at 8 p.m. at Adams Mark Hotel/Convention Center in Indianapolis. This .performance will be conducted by Dean Angeles of Loyola University.

Soloists were Dan Leismer and Mindy Harmon, both of Syracuse. Musical selectons were “Evergreen,” “The Wedding Song,” and “Endless Love.” The bride wore her grandmother’s bridal pearl necklace and earrings. The bridal gown was created with dramatic Elizabethan sleeves with pearls, a closefitting satin bodice sprinkled with a cluster of pearls, and basque Waistline with pearls. The full skirt was detailed with strands of pearls and a chapel-length train. A dainty spray of flowers, pearls and sequins decorated her headdress with fingertip veil, which also was dotted with pearls. Her cascade bouquet was of dustyrose roses, white carnations, and greenery with baby's breath. Jeanetta Slabaugh, sister of the bride, Syracuse, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Chris Hill, and Karen Edwards, both of Rushville, and Teresa Shrock, Syracuse. Flower girls were Cassandra Slabaugh, niece of the bride, and Jennifer McDaniel, cousin of the bride, both of Syracuse. David Hill, Rushville, was ring bearer. The attendants’ gowns were floor-length dusty-rose satin. Their headdresses were of dustyrose and white roses with a halo of baby’s breath. The flower girls carried wooden heart baskets filled with dusty-rose roses, white carnations, and baby’s breath. Donnie Kauffman, Syracuse,

KIWANIS CHRISTMAS PARTY - The Wawasee Kiwanis Club’s meeting on Saturday, Dec. 23, was held in the American Legion Building with members taking children and grandchildren for a Christmas party. Following a breakfast that was prepared by Joe Martin, Tim Hodgson and others, Santa Claus arrived. Santa Claus handed out gifts to the children present before leaving for Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, to take Christmas to the children there. Santa Claus was Ed Kinney, a member of the Milford Kiwanis Club. Shown in the photo are the children who attended the special meeting. In front are Kristi Martin, Tazza Warren. Gayle Ann Warren. Primary Moms have Yule party
The Primary Mother s Club met in the home of Linda Harkelroad for their Christmas party and meeting on Monday. Dec. 11. at 7 p.m. Myra Christner served as co-hostess. Each of the 15 members present carried in a potluck dish. After dinner, president Myra Christner called together a brief meeting. The outcome of the children's Christmas party. Saturday. Dec. 9, was discussed. The children decorated ornaments shaped like animals from various wallpaper cutouts They were served cookies and punch, and goody bags were given out. There were 14 children present. Chai'rman Ellen Longenbaugh organized it with the help

Mary Zebell becomes bride of Devon Sorensen Oct. 14
Mary Zebell, Three Oaks, Mich., and Devon .Sorensen, Three Rivers, Mich., were united in marriage October 14. 1989, in St. Mary's Church, Three Oaks. Deacon Ray Zientarski officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Chester and Joan Zebell, Three Oaks. The groom's parents, are Eldon and Nola Sorensen, Milford. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of white silk taffeta with a laceedged veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. Julie Samsel, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Robin Chalmers and Barb Aikman with Tanya Zebell, niece of the bride, as flower girl. They wore royal blue gowns and carried white bouquets. Jeff Sorensen, brother of the groom, was best man>»ghase Atwood and Dwight Dean served as groomsmen. They were attired in gray tuxedos. Zebell, brothers of the bride. Music was sung by Donna and Mike Latus, and Mike Zebell. Guitarist was Donna Latus. The mothers of the couple joined together in lighting the parents' candles. A reception was held in the church recreation hall with a dance following. The bride is a 1985 graduate of River Valley High School, Three Oaks. The groom is a 1972 graduate of Wawasee High School and a 1981 graduate of French Lick College. He is employed as a sales representative for Tony’s Pizza. The couple is residing at 58032 Marlene Drive, Three Rivers, Mich., following a honeymoon to southern Indiana.
