A Victorian kissing ring For a new Christmas hanging, one might like to make a Victorian kissing ring. Form wire into two rings of the same size and bind packed moss or straw to the wire. Add evergreen sprigs, making sure the foliage is clipped neatly to prevent any contact with the candle. Pack a pad of moss about the size of a tennis ball to wire at the point where the hoops cross. Flatten this pad and wire the candle securely in place by winding a strong piece of wire in a spiral around the candle's base. Spike the end into the wreath. Choose a candle which will burn down inside the candle’s center. Tie a few pieces of mistletoe with a ribbon; attach with wire underneath the decoration. Tie a bow at the top and hang with wire. It will be too heavy to hang to a light fixture. A real candle produces a fire hazard, but if one prefers a real one, use a fire-retardant spray for the evergreens. Giving gifts to the needy Children and their friends would probably enjoy a junior Santa party. Gifts that have been outgrown could be given to Santa, who would repair the toys and donate them to a charitable cause — children’s hospitals, orphanage. Sharing these toys could be the most meaningful part of Christmas for young children.

li Sr * KIWANIANS CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS — The Kiwanis Club of Wawasee began celebrating Christmas on Dec. 16 when Rev. Ron Bruce, minister of the Church of God, Syracuse, spoke. Relating Christmas to the Kiwanis Major Emphasis program. "Encourage Excellence.” he described the formula for success in striving for excellence. Three reasons we are not successful are: we don’t feel the need for success; we are afraid of success; or we are suspicious of success. To find success in living, we need to select a goal, unlock imprisoned potentialities, commit self to God's plan, chart the course by careful planning, expect problems, stand firm on commitment, and surrender everything to Christ, whose earthly birth we celebrate at Christmas.
