sing the Lord's song. Therefore, they hung their harps on the willow trees. (Psalms 137:1-5) When in sin, we too cannot sing from the heart When and why should we sing praises? Psalms are called songs of praise and thanksgiving; therefore, it is no wonder that David was the "apple of God's eye.” We sing songs and praises to the Lord to magnify Him (Psalms 69:30). in honour of His Name (Psalms 66-2); and to praise Him for His power (Psalms 21:13), righteous judgments (Psalms 119:7), marvelous works (Psalms 139:14), mighty acts and excellent greatness (Psalms 150:2), and mercies and faithfulness (Psalms 89:1). We are greater filled by the Spirit. In Ephesians 5:18, we are told to “be filled with the Spirit” and verses 19 and 20 tell how to be greater filled by “speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” and in giving thanks always for all things. Singing praises is away of being thankful to God. Moses and the children of Israel sang a song to the Lord for His deliverance at the Red Sea. They sang, "The Lord is my strength and song and He is become my salvation; He is my God" . . . and the song is continued in Exodus 15 and will also be sung in Rev. 15:3 by those who came out of the Tribulation period victoriously. This should he a lesson to us to sing songs of praises when the Lord delivers us from temptations of the evil ones, troubles, hardships, and the like. In times of persecution and afflictions, sing praises to God. Paul and Silas had been imprisoned and were in stocks, bleeding, and hungry • but at midnight, they sang praises to God and all the prisoners heard them. God also heard them and sent help with an earthquake which rocked the prison and loosed the bands of all. Because of this miracle and the words of Paul on salvation, the jailor and his family believed on the Lord Jesus and were saved (Acts 16:25-31). Greater fellowship is possible. In Psalm 100:1-2. we read: - "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His ‘ presence with singing;” and God
