pletely tfeitlined in Christmas lights and can be seen from Main Street or SR 15. The Powers moved into the home formerly owned by Dick and Melinda Roose this past June from New Buffalo, Mich. The
decorating of their home has been a tradition of the family for the past seven to eignt years. They plan to continue the decorating here. Larry noted that every year the family adds to the decorations, so
area residents can expect to see something new- each year. The whole family gets involved in the decorating, including their daughter, Shana, 11. While it is not known just how many strands are used, Larry did say if he is not careful, fuses get blown.
Several attempts to take photos of the home have failed, but. anyone can see the home when lit between 7-9 p.m., each evening. Larry noted that on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. the home will be lit for longer hours. —O’joining IN the season for holiday decorations is Main Street's Milford Floral and Gift. Owner Brenda Peterson has decorated the shop's window with “Mr. and Mrs. Snowman" along with a Christmas tree, wreath and blinking, gold miniature lights. one of our staff members, former Milford resident Hoy Jones, who now resides in Ventura. Calif . notes how good it was to see many of his old friends on the video tape sent to him of this year’s MAD Banquet honoring Milford’s Volunteer Firemen .— past and present. He writes: “On the list of ’past firemen,’ there were five who served with me: Elmer Hartter. Elmer Ruch, Kay Bray, Bill Burgett and Harold Geiger. Almost all the rest on the list I know, but they served after I left Milford (1959). "Elmer Hartter and I were on the town board together for several years. ‘‘Bob Hurd and Harrs (Toehead) Doty are the only ones left on the department today who were on it w hen I w as. I know Bob Buch well, but I think he joined after 1 left town. "Several of the others now on the department I either know or know their fathers or grandfathers, such as Rodney Bray. Max Duncan, and others. Max Duncan's dad. Carl, and I were on the town board together. "Others, whose families I know, are Sam Baumgartner. Bob Brooks, Mike Charlton, Alvin Haab. and Doug VVeisser, who is a relative of mine. "Tracy Beer's dad. Harlan, and I were good friends in the welding business at one time when. I had the welding shop in Milford. ’’Milford is blessed to have a good fire department." In closing. Hoy noted the infection in his hip seems to be under control at this time. Chrome Painting business. The manual states. “In order that you may see the picture complete, thereby knowing better what to study for. and prepare for practical work, we describe it in detail. "First, it is painted with oil paints on glass, but in order not to have it confounded with old ways of pasting pictures on the back of glass and made transparent with gums and oils, thereby eventually losing a valued picture, we use no picture or oils at all. as we copy your picture and make them any size from any kind or size, of original pictures, and in fact many times get a much stronger and more life-like picture than we copy from. Postal Service to sponsor Olympics
The US Postal Service will sponsor the 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville. France, and Barcelona. Spain. Postmaster Genera] Anthony M. Frank an nounced recently. During the announcement. Senior Assistant Postmaster General Peter K Eiehorn in dicated that the Postal Service has been looking for methods of generating new revenue and that worldwide Olympic sponsorship offers a unique opportunity. In addition to increasing its share of international expedited mail, the Postal Service will expand its philatelic program to include several items over the next three years. To initiate the sponsorship and mark the occasion of announcement, the Postal Service has produced a philatelic folder which
shades upon the glass in soft neutral grays, thus giving uniform value to all the tints and colors introduced to make lifelike pictures, and not over color as is often done. "Read instructions closely. When the picture is finished they are sealed upon panels of various size and finish, leaving an outside ornamental margin, therebymaking a unique frame. This is done by a process of cementing which is also protected by our patent. It seals the work from dust or any chance of getting marred. It is easily cleaned and very ornamental. “We might enumerate many other valuable points. You can get your practice on your first foundation by rubbing out and painting over as many times as you choose, as the foundation will remain permanent. It will interest your children in making many holiday and birthdaypresents of their own work. You also avoid entrusting your picture to untrustw-orthy agents. In fact you add many pictures to your homes that otherwise you would not have. "To conclude we hope much pleasure will come to you with the knowledge of making this work." The instructions for doing this work include information on what supplies are needed, how to commence work, how to color the eyes. hair, and drapery, painting the background, how to mount the picture, how to teach the work and make money, and how to sell the paintings and make money.
