10 YEARS AGO. NOV. 14, 1979 Over the week end Milford Fire Chief Bill Leemon and several of his volunteer firemen installed a new sign that reads MILFORD FIRE DEPARTMENT on the front of the fire station on South Main street. Leemon said the new sign is a result of monies donated to the department in memory of the late Clyde Hamilton.

The following persons were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail recently: Jan Louise Schieler, 31. 900 Greenhaus Dr.. Syracuse, was Icy roads cause accident • Ice-covered roads were listed as the cause of a one-vehicle accident which occurred Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8:17 p.m. on Old SR 15, just north of the Mock Road. Mark Medley, 22, 305 E. sth St., Ligonier, was driving a 1989 Dodge Dakota southbound on Old SR 15 and had just passed another vehicle. As he attempted to pull back into his lane he hit an icy portion on the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. He then left the roadway on the lefthand side and struck a NIPSCO pole. He complained of pain to his eldow/lower arm/hand. Damage was listed at up to $5,000 to his vehicle and up to $2,500 to the NIPSCO pole by Milford Deputy Aaron Rovenstine. Scott Anthony (“Tony”) Burk, 23 , 2606 Hoagland Ave., Apt. 3, Fort Wayne, was charged with automobile theft, possession of stolen property, forgery and theft. No bond has been set. According to police, Burk forged and cashed one of two checks at the Wawasee Village Branch of Ameritrust, on the account of Tami Fervida, Nappanee. Fervida had reported her checks stolen on October 21.

The crew requested to know how soon it will be moving or what the next open crossing was. Elkhart County was notified to contact Conrail. The company reported officials could not contact the train personnel and suggested the ambulance crew go north on CR 23. By this time the train was backing up and the ambulance could go through. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 15 Police found no car sitting on the highway after someone reported a car sitting on the north side of US 6 along SR 13. Information on two Syracuse teens, one 15 years old and the other 16 years old. has been turned over to the Kosciusko County Juvenile Officers, regarding several burglaries, thefts, and shoplifting incidents in the Syracuse area. According to Syracuse Police Chief Robert Ziller, the 16-year-old admitted to breaking into two homes on Kale Island and taking liquor, binoculars, a radio, and flags.
