Community Thanksgiving services set at Milford
Everyone is invited to the Community Thanksgiving Service at the Milford United Methodist Church for an evening of worship on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The service, beginning at 7:30 p.m.. will include special music by the combined choirs from the churches who participate in the Milford Ministerial Association. Each year, ,the Milford Ministerial Association plans a Thanksgiving and an Easter program to help the Milford community celebrate these two seasons. The members of the association would like to invite the public to join them for this evening of celebration as thanks is given to God for everyone’s freedom. Guest speaker at Bethel Church On Sunday. Nov. 12, Terry Hatfield. district executive for 50 churches in the Northern Indiana district, will be the guest speaker at the Milford Bethel Churcn ot the Brethren. He will give a presentation entitled, “Believing in Grace.” Hatfield is the co-author of the Sunday school curriculum, “New Life For All." The study centers on the church’s mission of evangelism. Mor,ping worship will begin at 10:30 and the public is invited to attend and hear the preachings of Hatfield. Church to hold bake sale The Women's Fellowship of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren will be holding their annual bake sale and beef and noodle dinner on Saturday, Nov. 11. The bake sale will be from 9 a m.-2 p.m. and the dinner from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Available along with the homemade beef and noodles will be sloppy joes, baked beans, potato salad and pies.

HAYDAY RAKING LEAVES — The senior youth group of the First Brethren Church of Milford had a hayday raking leaves at the church last Sunday afternoon. After the chore was done, they set out, caravan style, to Paul and Judy Tinkels' house to make a clean sweep of their minister’s yard also. After the work was done, a supper at the church, manwitch style, was enjoyed by all. After the meal, they all had a great time swimming at Jim and Debbie Beer’s home near Dewart Lake.

More than 500 churches in the Soviet Union were returned to use in 1988 and the demand for Bibles Society (ABS) has joined with its partner Bible societies around the world in launching a massive drive to bring a million needed Bibles and New Testaments to churches in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. The $3 million project has been dubbed ‘Gifts of Love' to symbolize the spirit in which Americans traditionally rally to help those in need. It's the largest single distribution project among the tens of thousands of programs undertaken by ABS during its 173-year history. All of the Scriptures have been requested by various church groups and include Bibles in Russian, Armenian, Georgian. Estonian, Latvian, Ukrainian, Czech.
