Oct. 25. 1989. in Indiana University Medical Center, following an extended illness. Born October 30, 1953. in Elkhart, he was the son of Clarence <Ed) and Elgia Werich Tatman. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he served as clerk-treasurer for Syracuse. Having been elected to his office on the Democratic ticket, he would have completed two years of his four-year term in January 1990. He had formerly worked for Chore-Time. Milford. A graduate of Wawasee High School, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ligonier. His survivors include his mother, Elgia Ta tma n . Syracuse; his maternal grand : mother. Charlotte Werich. She was born December 22, 1928, in Markle. On March 1,1949, she was married to William Karst; he survives. Mrs. Karst was a seamstress for Essex Wire Corp.. Ligonier, and was employed with Starcraft and Sroufe Manufacturing Co.. Ligonier. She was a member of Stone's Hill Community Church, Ligonier. Surviving in addition to her husband are one son. Harriett M. Leedy Harriett M. Leedy, 98, formerly of Warsaw, died at 6:10 a m. Friday, Oct. 27, 1989, in United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, where she had been a resident since November 5,1971. Born September 11, 1891, in North Webster, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary Jane Mock Leedy. She worked as a housemother in Chicago. 111., and Milwaukee, Wis., for many years. She was formerly a recorder in Noble County and after her she helped in the Methodist Thrift Shops in North . Webster and Syracuse. Mrs. Dunn was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse; Order of the Eastern Star. Goshen; Mary Circle of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church; and Rebekah Circle of North Webster United Methodist Church. Her survivors include one stepson. Everett Dunn. Three, injured as vehicle rolls
The following accidents were investigated by Kosciusko County Sheriff's officers recently: Driver inattention was the cause of a vehicle going off the roadway and rolling over injuring three people. Angie M. Clark, 16, r 1 Beau Peep Lane, Cromwell, was traveling south on CR 950E and lost control of her 1982 Ford. The car went off the roadway and rolled once landing on its wheels. Passengers were Sara Kline, 15. r 6 box 194. Syracuse, and Stacey Clay, 15. r 1 box 616, Leesburg. All three were taken to Goshen Hospital. Clark complained of pain to her leg; Kline, pain to her back; and Clay, pain to her back. Damage to Clark's vehicle was $2,500. Failure to yield right-of-way was the cause of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Farm Road and CR 200S. Thursday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. David M. O'Neill. 31, 221 N. High Street. Delphi, was driving his 1986 Ford Bronco east on County Farm Road, stopped at the intersection with CR 200S. Thinking it was a four-way stop, he drove his vehicle into the intersection
Teenagers charged
Christopher Allen Breidinger. 17. r 4 box 83A. Warsaw, and Shane Ashley Halloway. 18. r 4 Beachwood. Warsaw, were both charged with forced entry to a residence, theft and possession of stolen property. The teenagers were involved in nine of 12 burglaries of homes in Milford. Leesburg. Etna Green. Atwood Syracuse, and Warsaw. Breidinger was involved in three of the burglaries alone. The break-ins occurred between September 26 and October 25. A total of $1,670 in cash was taken, along with some tapes, a knife, and VCR The VCR. knife and close to S4OO in cash were recovered. Officers who investigated 11 of the 12 burglaries met on Wednesday afternoon to compare information. after the model and serial number of the VCR was obtained. Acting upon a tip that Halloway could be involved, and owned a gray Chevrolet Citation which was seen in the area of several of the burglaries, police went to a Hoffman Lake home where the pair was living. Kosciusko County Sheriff Detective Tom Kitch. Captain Al Rovenstine. Officer Joe Money and Indiana State Police Sergeant Neil Beck went to the home. From the outside they observed a VCR on top of a television. matching the description of one stolen from the Delbert Moneyheffer home in Milford

ONLY SMOKE DAMAGE TO INSIDE — Heat tape shorting out against a tie down strap caused a fire at a mobile home owned by Carl Clemons, r 5 Lot 10, Box 86, Syracuse. The fire was at 7:43 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25. According to Syracuse Fire Chief Jerry Byrd, the fire burned along the south side of the mobile home along the skirting from the middle to the front of the trailer. The inside of the home only suffered smoke damage. No damage amount was listed. Milford Fire Department was notified, as the fire w as in Vanßuren Township. Damage was listed at $2,500 to Boggs' 1979 Ford truck and $5,000 to O'Neill vehicle. A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 600 N. Tuesday. Oct. 24. at 1:45 p.m. was caused by a driver failing to yield the right of way. Tracey R. Snider, 27. 6677 W. CR 550 W, Warsaw, was driving a 1987 Pontiac west on CR 600 N. She stated there was a lot of traffic and she was waiting to cross SR 15. She noticed a car was going to turn west and after it did, she didn't see anyone else so she proceeded to cross the intersection and was struck by a 1987 Audi, driven by Richard Angus . Broadbent, 52, 70507 Adamsville Rd.. Edwardsburg. Mich. Snider complained of pain to her head. Her passengers, Casey Snider, five, and Victoria Snider, four, both Os 6677 W. CR 550 W. Warsaw, also complained of pain to her head. All refused medical treatment. Broadbent was not injured. No damage was listed.
Because no one was at the residence. Officer Mooney and Officer Beck remained at the home, while Det. Kitch and Captain Rovenstine went to get a search warrant. During the absence of Kitch and Rovenstine. Breidinger and Halloway returned and were detained Halloway, who is legally an adult, was placed under arrest. After being read his miranda rights, he admitted his involvement in several of the burglaries. He also admitted that the VCR on top of the television was taken from a Milford home. Additional property in the home was, also identified as being stolen Before taking Halloway to jail, officers allowed him to lock-up his vehicle. It was then that police found a brown grocery sack containing a, large amount of loose coins. Halloway identified these coins as having just been stolen: one hour earlier, from a North Webster area home. The sack contained $274.31 in change. Breidinger was also arrested and gave police a verbaFstat'ement of his involvement in 12 burglaries. He will be waived from juvenile court to adult court. Villa Apartments «3, Milford, was driving a 1983 Ford truck south on SR 15 south of Leesburg and lost control on the slick road. His truck went off the side of the road, hit a NIPSCO pole, and rolled over once landing on its top. Damage was listed at $5,000 to his truck, no to the pole A two-vehicle collision occurred Saturday, Oct. 28. at 10:50 a m. on CR 950E/Epworth Forest Road. Drivers were Donald E. Rice. 60. 5322 N. According to police reports Burris N. Sharp, 75, Nelson Road, Box 278, Milford, was driving east on Bowser Road in a 1988 Lincoln Town Car when his vehicle collided with a northbound 1982 Mercury Lynx driven by Christina R. Slabaugh, 16, r 1 box 102 C, Milford. Damage was estimated up to $5,000 to Sharp’s vehicle and up to $2,500 to vehicle. A horse in the roadway caused an accident Friday, Oct. 27, at 5:53 a.m., on CR 900 N, west of CR 425 W. southwest of Milford. Tony D. Powell, 25. Box 17, Yvonna St., Leesburg, was traveling west on CR.9QON in a 1987 Chevrolet truck when two horses ran out in front ofhis vehicle. Powell’s vehicle hit the first horse as he could not avoid the accident. The horse was owned by Floyd M. Miller, r 2 box 138. Milford, and was valued at up to SI,OOO. Driver inattention was the cause of a two-vehicle accident Wednesday. Oct. 25. at 9:02 p.m., at Old Road 30 and Cheyenne, east of Warsaw. Mary W. Phillips. 42.36 N. Cheyenne, Warsaw. was traveling east on Old 30 in her 1988 Chevrolet truck and was attempting to turn left onto Cheyenne when a 1979 Ford truck, driven by Michele S. Shepherd. 18, r 1 , box 644 J, Leesburg, collided with her vehicle Shepherd was traveling behind the Phillips vehicle and was in the process of passing the Philips vehicle when the accident occurred. Damage was estimated up to SI,OOO to both 'vehicles. A slick spot on SR 15. north of Southwood Dr., south of Warsaw, caused an accident Thursday, Oct. 19. at 8:50 p.m. Krista D. Teeple. 17, P.O. Box 135. Leesburg, was traveling south on SR 15 in a 1986 Chevrolet van when the vehicle Went over a slick spot in the road causing her to lose control. The van went off the road hitting a Northern Indiana Public Service Company pole. Damage was up to $2,500 to the van and up to SI,OOO to the pole. ~
