Clara Leer Clara Leer, 71, 17043 CR 34, Goshen, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 5:36 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23,1989, in Goshen Hospital. She was born November 8,1917, in Harrison Township. On March 3,1951, she married Robert Leer; he survives. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Leer was a homemaker. A graduate of New Paris High School, she was an active member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where she served as a deacon. Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Kim (Cheryl) Warner and Mrs. Mark (Bette) Blough, both of Goshen, and Mrs. Edward (Janet) Newell, Elkhart; one son, Edward Leer, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. Carl (Goldie) Stahm and Mrs. Robert (Leta H.) Loy, both of Goshen, Mrs. Hollis (Grace) Steele, Bristol, Mrs. William (Catherine) Pittman, Texas, Mrs. Donald (Lena) Stiver, Syracuse, Mrs. Fred (Ruby) Rink, Jr., Millersburg, and Mary Householder, California; and two brothers, Clifford Clark, California, and John Clark, New Paris. She was preceded in death by one sister and.three brothers. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, in YoderCulp Funeral Home, Goshen, with Rev. Phyllis Carter, pastor of Goshen City Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial was in Rock Run Cemetery. Everett Perrin Everett Perrin, 69,11699 CR 42, Millersburg, died of an apparent heart attack at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1989, in the emergency room of Goshen Hospital. He was born June 15, 1920, in Datto, Ark. On July 10, 1940, he married Marjorie Miller, who died March 31, 1977. On January 21, 1978, in Millersburg, he married Gladys Nusbaum; she survives. Mr. Perrin moved from Arkansas to Millersburg in 1940. He retired in 1982 following 42 years of employment with Johnson Controls and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Frank Copeland Frank Copeland, 64, formerly of Warsaw, died unexpectedly at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25,1989, in his Punta Gorda, Fla., residence. Born February 22, 1925, in Hamlet, he was the son of William and Thelma Reed Copeland. On January 21,1950, he married Norma Butler; she survives.

Ind. 15, Warsaw, died at 8:06 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 1989, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient two months. Born May 16, 1916, in Goshen, he was the son of Allen and Jemima Reece Smoker. On March 28,1937, he married Mary K. Kline; she survives. Having moved from Goshen, he lived in the Warsaw and Leesburg areas since 1950. A Dairy Herd Improvement Association supervisor for 30 years, Mr. Smoker owned and operated his own dairy farm until 1974 and was also an artificial insemination technician. He has undergone extensive tests and is expected to remain in the hospital for several more days as he receives medication for an undetermined infection. MILFORD MAN HOME AFTER SURGERY Stewart Coy, r 1 box 104 D, Milford, underwent surgery and skin graft on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 22, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, He was released to his home later that day and is expected to be recovering at home at least another two weeks. Kern, had been spending the summers at Webster Lake since 1968. Mrs. Kern was a choreographer and professional dancer. SKYDIVING PROGRAM PRESENTED — Phil YVogoman. who lives in Syracuse in the summer and east of Benton in the winter, presented a skydiving program to the YYawasee Kiwanis t lub on Saturday morning, Aug. 26. VVogoman has been a pilot since about the age of 15. and became interested in skydiving in 197 X. Since that time, he has made 160 jumps. Most of YVogoman’s presentation consisted of showing his equipment and explaining how each bit of equipment worked. He demonstrated how to pack the main parachute, auxiliary parachute, and various other items a skydiver uses at the right time and in the right manner. He drafted Gary E. Kline, 34, 22048 US 33W, Goshen, was found dead Sunday night, August 27, 1989, in the swimming pool at Holiday Inn, Goshen. He was born September 10, 1954, in Elkhart. On July 1, 1984, in Somerset, Ky., he married Elizabeth Shelton; she survives. A 1974 graduate of Concord High School, he was employed at Holiday Inn, Goshen. He attended Gospel Lighthouse Church. MINOR INJURIES TO DRIVER — Margaret I. Stine, 31, P.O. Box 1254, Warsaw, suffered minor bleeding to her face after her car rolled into a ditch along Syracuse-Milford Road. She was taken to Goshen Hospital. The accident occurred at 4:38 p.m., Monday, Aug. 28, at Camelot Drive. Kosciusko County Police report Stine was driving her 1987 Buick westbound on the SyracuseMilford Road when a vehicle driven by Jon P. Haab, r 1 4 Camelot Dr„ Milford, pulled into her path. Stine swerved to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle. When she swerved the car left the roadway and when she got the vehicle back on the road, the tires grabbed the roadway and caused the car to go sharply to the right, dow n into the ditch and overturn. A lifetime Warsaw area resident, Mrs. Hile attended First Christian Church in Warsaw and was a member of Warsaw Toastmasters International. The car went off the north side of the road and struck a fence. Damage to the car was up to $5,000 and up to SI,OOO to the fence and beans owned by Leon Tucker, r 1 box 13, Milford. Julia A. Stotts. 75, r 1 box 592-20, Leesburg, complained of pain to her back following a twovehicle accident Monday, Aug. 28. at 10:18 a.m., at Armstrong Road and CR 475E. She was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Stotts told police she was driving her 1986 Plymouth westbound on Armstrong Road. She had missed her turn and backed her vehicle up to make the turn onto CR 475E. Stotts stated she did not see any vehicle coming so she went to make the turn when she was hit by a 1967 KJC, driven by Floyd T. Chapman. 53. 751 E. Fort Wayne St.. Warsaw. Chapman was traveling east on Armstrong Road when Stotts turned in front of him. Damage to Stotts vehicle was estimated up to $5,000 and up to $2,500 to Chapman's vehicle. Failure to yield the right of way was the cause of a two-vehicle accident Monday. Aug. 28, at 3:35 p.m.. on CR 450 N east of CR 375E. Sue A. Guy. 38, r 1 box 570, North Webster, was driving her 1988 Chevrolet west on CR 450 N when a truck driven by Hazel S. Bellman. 43, r 1 box 644, Leesburg, pulled out of a drive in front of her. Bellman stated she looked both ways before pulling out of her driveway and did not see any vehicles, Damage was estimated up to $2,500 to Guy’s vehicle and up to $2,500 to Bellman’s 1982 Chevrolet truck. Kesler, 87, a resident of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1989, in Grace Village’s health care center. Born March 1, 1902, in Muncie, she was the daughter of B. A. and Effie Allen Long. On September 8, 1923, she was married to Raymond W. Kesler ; he survives. Mrs. Kesler resided in South Bend until 1965, at which time she retired to Sebring, Fla., for 20 years, moving to Grace Village Retirement Community in 1984. She was a retired employee of Sears Department Store in South Bend and a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren. She served in Brethren Volunteer Service for several years after her retirement. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Rosemary Rowe Hamby, Spokane, Wash., and Eileen Fogarty, South Bend; , one son, Donn D. Daniel Vires, 46, r 8 box lA, Warsaw, was driving a 1978 Ford truck behind Rumfelt and when he observed Rumfelt’s vehicle slowing he passed on the right only to collide with the other truck. Rumfelt stated his right turn signal was used, however, Vires said it was not in operation, damage was estimated up to SI,OO to Rumfelt’s truck and up to $2,500 to Vires’ truck. Police investigated an accident Friday, Aug. 25, on CR 1350 N, west of CR 200W at 10:11 a.m. When the investigating officer arrived he found a 1982 Chevrolet truck had gone off the road through a fence. No driver was around. Upon further investigation police found that David D. Huff, 22, r 1 box 228, Milford, as the driver of the truck at the time of the accident. Damage to thetruck was estimated up to $2,500 and up to SI,OOO to the fence owned by Dorothy McDonald, r i box 184, Milford. No one was injured in an accident Thursday, Aug. 23. at 8:30 a.m. The accident was at SR 15 and CR 250 N. Conrad C. Forks, 55, r 8 box 216. Warsaw, was northbound on SR 15 in his 1977 Foid and was in the right turn lane when his vehicle was hit by a semi that came up along the left side of his vehicle. Richard D. Butts, 32, 204 N. Jefferson, Kinmundy, 111., driver of the semi, told police he didn’t see the other vehicle as he was preparing to make a wide right turn. Damage to Forks’ vehicle was up to SI,OOO and up to SI,OOO to the semi trailer registered to All Continent Transport, Inc., r 14 box 331, Brazil.
