Advent and, in the course of one year, reads through the entire scripture. At the beginning of the next Advent, the readings start over. “It’s all paH of the divine plan of salvation,” says Father Urbine. With the masses following this orderly presentation he adds. “This is how God planned to save us." Although all priests plan their sermons differently, Father Urbine says his is a mental preparation. After reading through the ORDO book — explains what mass should take place from week to week — and other scriptures. including the New and Old Testaments, he must look for and develop a theme. “I try to harmonize the sermon with the gospel reading, and the Old and New Testament," he says. By reading the comments of early Fathers of the church (Bishops) dating back to the third and fourth centuries. Father Urbine says he incorporates some of

the church from 1969 to 1978. In June of 1978 he was assigned by the conference as pastor. He served as pastor through June of 1981 while attending Huntington College. Joy Rumfelt Mishler plays the organ at Island Chapel

By JEREMY BEER Although she says that she is not an accomplished organist. Joy Rumfelt Mishler has been filling in on the organ at the Island Chapel United Methodist Church for about 55 years. She has attended that church all of her life. Joy explains that when she was 12 years old, the band director at Warsaw High School used to drive up to the Milford area to give lessons to a few students. However, her family did not own a piano, so she cried every week when Mr. Ross, the band director, dro z ve by. Finally, her father bought a piano, even though he was also trying to pay for his farm. Joy ended up taking six lessons from Mr. Ross at a cost of 50 cents each. After that, she also took seven lessons from Stella Mow. When Joy was a freshman at Milford High School she tried out for the high school chorus. Although she claims that she “didn’t know my do-re-mi’s", she learned them from the students who tried out before heijand was picked to be in the choir. Joy says that the teacher in charge of the choir. Miss Maude McLoughlin, helped her out with music ih general by spending the noon hour with her teaching her how to count time and learn different keys. Joy doesn't think that she really received enough lessons to play as well as she does, so she believes that she has truly been blessed by God with musical talent. Besides the organ, she Has also played the harmonic® her whole life, a talent she thinks she inherited from her father. - With Robert Rumfelt, her first husband. Joy built the house in which she currently lives in July of 1936 right after being married. They built the house, which is about four miles west of Milford, upon the homestead Where Joy was born and lived during her childhood. Joy has been married to her current husband. Daniel, for 12 years. She has three children, Dennis, Dane, and Donal, from her first marriage Dane and Carol Rumfelt live in New Paris with their children, and Donal and his wife Tacile live in Syracuse with their family. Dennis is single and lives in Key West. Fla.
