Syracuse, sustained minor injuries when the tire on his 1989 Yamaha MC motorcycle blew striking a 1988 GMC van, driven by Shirley Yoder. P.O. Box 823. Middlebury . The accident happened at 4:33 p.m. yesterday. Tuesday, on Airport Road and Warner Road. Both drivers were taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment. Kosciusko County Ptl. Four area residents in accidents in Elkhart County
Four area residents were involved in separate accidents last week in Elkhart County. On Thursday, July 20, a Milford couple was involved in a four-car accident at Pike and Second streets in Goshen. Grace Eisenhower. 79. r 1, Milford, attempted a left turn from Pike Street north onto Second Street when her 1988 Eagle Premier collided with an oncoming 1980 Ford Pinto, driven by Paul E. Myers 111. 23, 60218 Surrey Lane, Elkhart. The Eisenhower auto was then shoved into a 1986 Oldsmobile Calais driven by Marlene M. Eldridge, 56. 2104 Home Acres Qrive, Goshen. Eldridge had stopped on Second Street. Her car was then shoved into a stopped 1987 Cadillac driven by Andrew N. Todd. 32, Hoffman Estates. 111. Mrs. Eisenhower and her husband. Roy C. Eisenhower, 86. complained of minor injury. Damage was set at more than $4,500. was cited for failure to yield the right of way. A Milford driver was cited for disregarding an automatic traffic signal after colliding with another car at Elkhart and Greene Roads in Goshen at 10:30
a m. Saturday, July 22. Danny L. Hackaney, 38, 72893 CR 17, Milford, was driving a 1973 Toyota Corona. Driver of the second car, a 1984 Plymouth Reliant, was Ernest W Penrod, 63, Lake Placid, Fla. Ptl. Ron Trover set damage at more than S4OO. Dropping a cigarette caused an auto to strike a parked car. Lori A. Green, 22, r 4, Palm Drive, Syracuse, was driving south on Third Street north of Madison Street in Goshen, when she dropped a cigarette. Her 1981 Mercury Zephyr then struck a parked 1983 Honda Accord owned by Propane grill tank fire Syracuse firemen were called to Lake Wawasee, Pier 77, when a propane grill tank caught fire. The department received the call at 8:19 p.m. Saturday. July 22. Cause of the fire was giventas the tank value burning on the grill. Upon the department's arrive, the owners had the fire out and water on the tank. The firemen released the rest of the gas from the tank. Damage was estimated at SSO.

........ « S r - HHhßb f TROOPER SMITH ADDRESSES KIWANIS — Kevin Smith, a member of the Indiana State Police Department, addressed the Wawasee Kiwanis Saturday morning, July 22. at Gropp’s Restaurant. Syracuse. Smith, a graduate of Wawasee High School, now lives with his wife in Angola. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Smith. Syracuse. He joined the State Police Department in 1987. and has been assigned to the district patrolling the toll road. He described his work as exciting and challenging. One of his jobs is to stop cars traveling at high rates of speed — some traveling 95-100 miles per hour. The federal government set im equipment to determine how many travelers were driving over the legal speed limit. Due to number of excessive speeders, the Indiana State Police were told they would lose their federal road money if they didn’t bring down speeds. The average number of tickets written for speeders per officer was increased from 6-8 to 15-20 arrests a day. One of the methods used to catch speeders was to purchase Mustangs, using them as unmarked cars. Shawn Krull attends photojournalism workshop
Shawn Krull. 16-year-old son of Hubert and Beth Krull, Milford, recently returned from Ball State University where he attended the annual high school photojournalism workshop. During his week-long stay. Krull participated in hands-on sessions designed to teach the elements of composition, photographic techniques, and the darkroom processing and printing of black-and-white negatives. While there, the students put together a small portfolio of their work completed during the conference. When school begins this fall,
WIN STATE PAGEANT — Nathan and Shauna Seaman, children of Keith and Tami Seaman, r 1 box 532. North Webster, will be representing Indiana at the national Crystal Heart Beauts Pageant in September. The pageant will be in Orlando. Fla. The children competed in the regional pageant last Saturday. .July 22. in Wabash. Nathan, seven months old. was named "Baby King Sweetheart." and "Baby Boy Sportswear Sweetheart.” in the under one age division. His sister, Shauna. 22 months old. w as first runner-up in the beauty division and second in the sportswear division, in the one-year-old age division. The contestants were judged on their overall appearance, beauty and personality. Nathan received two trophies, two titles, and a medallion. Shauna received a trophy and medallion. Shauna has participated in pageants since she w as six months old and has three state titles. Krull's attendance at the workshop was made possible by a grant from Yeager Photography of Syracuse. Syracuse, was charged with trespass and held on $250 bond Janice Marie Koselke. 37. r 1 box 318. Syracuse, was booked on charges of driving a vehicle under the influence and public intoxication and released on $350 bond. Judge Sand gives quarterly report Richard W. Water main breaks An eight-inch water main was broken by a contractor digging on Boston Street in Syracuse near Main Street on Monday The whole downtown area was without water from 11:58 a m to 3:09 p.m.
