Amy Eggers becomes bride of James De Lisle
Amy Diane Eggers, Indianapolis, became the bride of James Michael DeLisle, also of Indianapolis, during a candlelit ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Indianapolis. Rev. David Owens, pastor of the church, and Father James Sweeney, pastor at St. Pius X Catholic Church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony in the presence of 250 guests. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Eggers, Indianapolis. Her mother is the former Judy Jones of Syracuse. The bride is also the granddaughter of Mrs. W. A. (Nedra) Jones of Indianapolis, formerly of Syracuse, and the late Mr. Jones. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeLisle, Indianapolis. The front of the church featured two candelabra highlighted with baby’s breath and white satin bows. A unity candle, surrounded with a low arrangement of roses, delphinium, mini carnations, statice, snapdragons and greenery, was placed on the altar table. The aisle stands were adorned with baby’s breath, white satin bows and candles. Don Martin, Indianapolis, was the organist and presented “Trumpet Voluntary” as the processional. Soloist Gary Dyer, also of Indianapolis, sang “Sunrise, Sunset;” “It Seems Like I’ve Always Loved You;” and “Walk Hand in Hand.” The bride chose a gown of white satin and schiffli embroidered lace. It featured a bateau neckline, elongated bodice and leg-o-mutton sleeve with all adorned with beaded and sequined lace. The full, satin circular skirt and train were finished with a lace hemline. An illusion veil was attached to the bride’s beaded tiara cap. Her teardropshaped bouquet consisted of an all-white blend of gardinias, roses, cymbidium orchids, stephanotis and freesia, accented with green ivy and ferns. Mr. Evans married the former Annabelle Fisher on July 22, 1939, in Milford at the groom’s parents' home. Hosts of the open reception will be their seven’ children: Roger and Betty Evans, Martin, Mich.; Phillip and Suzann Evans. Muncie; Everett and Dianna Evans, Goshen; James and Jan Evans, Nappanee; Thomas and Elaine Evans, Danville; Dallas and Karen Evans, Sheridan; and Robert and Vonda Bedward, Nappanee. Mr. Evans is retired from Bendix Corp, after 31 years of service. Mrs. Evans is a homemaker. The couple has 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Super Sixties' to share information
Kosciusko County residents 55 years and older are invited to ‘■‘Super Sixties,” meeting Wednesday, July 26, 10 a.m., at the International Friendship House in Winona Lake. The meal and program are provided without charge. There are no dues and individuals need not be a member to attend. All pastors and priests are welcome regardless of age The main purpose is to share information as to what Kosciusko County has available for its senior adults, and provide fellowship, entertainment and encouragement. The goal is to make this event one of the highlights of the month for senior adults. To help know the quantity of

They carried mixed bouquets of pink sweetheart roses, light pink astilbe, blue delphinium, pale yellow mini carnations, purple statice, baby’s breath and greenery. Best man was Garrett Tallman, and groomsmen were Dan Harter, Don Albrecht, Steve Hartman and Paul Gearin, all fraternity brothers of the groom. Serving as ushers were Matt Eggers, brother of the bride; Greg Nottingham; and Mike Skehan. Patrick DeLisle, brother of the groom, was ring bearer. The bride’s mother wore an iris blue tea-length dress with beaded shoes and a bag to match her dress. The groom’s mother wore an apricot tea-length dress which featured a beaded flower at the waist. She received a bachelor of science degree in 1987 from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is a sales representative with Business Resources. The groom, a 1983 graduate of Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, received a bachelor of arts degree from Wabash College in 1987 and is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is employed as a sales representative with Abbott Laboratories. Following a wedding trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the couple is residing at 11643 Plymouth Woods Dr., Livonia, Mich. 48150.

Kurtz and the former Eilein Leatherman were married July 23, 1939, south of Milford, by the late Rev. Manley H. Deeter. Mr. Kurtz is a retired foreman for Brown & Brown Construction, Co., Wakarusa, and Mrs. Kurtz is a housewife. Their children, Phil and Kathy Baker of New Paris, and grandchildren, Dawn, Kristi and Brad, will be hosting an open house on Sunday, July 23, from 2-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, CR 46, between CR 21 and CR 19. Class of 1959 holds 30-year reunion
Members of Syracuse High School’s class of 1959 held its 30th class reunion this past weekend. On Friday, July 14, a cocktail party was held in the Dewart Lake home of Barbara (Bitner) Miller, with 20 class members and nine guests attending. On Saturday, July 15, a picnic was held at the Lake Wawasee home of Sue (Herdrich) Meek, with 23 class members and 11 guests in attendance. Helping plan the events in addition to the two hostesses were Bonnie (Cripe) Arnott. Letitia (Jones) Clevenger, Richard Crews, Robert (Butch) Graff, Milton Karesh and Robert Swenson, all of Syracuse; Frederick (Marty) Graff, Nappanee; and Sharon Gilbert, Milford. Retired teachers learn about hot-air balloons
The July meeting of the Kosciusko Retired Teachers Association was held at the Shrine Building with the president, Arleen Miner, presiding. Colonel Likens, accompanied by Josephine Likens on the piano, led the group in singing “America” and the Pledge of Allegiance. Wilmer Fredrick asked the blessing for the meal. Floyd Hollar led the chorus in singing “This Land is My Land” and “God Bless America.” Door prizes were awarded to 20 people. Tim and Nancy Shoemaker created miniature hot-air balloons for the table decorations in keeping with the program, which was Jerry Hull, speaking

The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Mrs. Oliver Haab and Mrs. Robert Bowerman were guests. Mrs. Bowerman will become a member of the club. Crafts of fancy boxes and ribbons were made for the Leo Children’s Home auction saile to beheld in August. Mrs. Richard Schlipf presided over the business meeting. The club collect was repeated, and Mrs. Philip Price called the roster of members present. Thank you notes were read. It was reported by Mrs. Dan Beer and Mrs. Fred Beer, members of the gift committee, that flowers had been sent to Arthur Baumgartner who was hospitalized. The group sang “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Sam Beer and “Happy Anniversary” to Mrs. Schlipf. For devotions, Mrs. Mark Meyer read “Why Worry.” This was followed by the singing of “Why Worry When You Can Pray.” The hostess treated her guests to ice cream sundaes and angel food cake. Mrs. Schlipf received two kitchen towels as a door prize.
