Kay Caskey serves as secretary of Flotilla Committee

A lot of time and effort are put in behind the scenes before the Wawasee Flotilla ever begins. The Wawasee Flotilla Committee, for example, meets pretty much year around, getting input and preparing for the big event. One of the important cogs in the committee machine is its secretary, Kay Caskey. She was on the committee for six years before being asked to serve as its secretary last year. Caskey says her duties are similar to those of secretaries on any other committee. “I take minutes and type them up like any secretary would do," she said.

Gama Sigma to sell elephant ears

Caskey, a part-time employee of Premier Plastic Products, says things starting getting more hectic as the big weekend approaches. The committee meets monthly until six weeks before the Flotilla, when it begins meeting on a weekly basis. Committee members discuss different ideas regarding the running of the Flotilla and subcommittees give reports on different aspects.
