PREPARING FOR BIG EVENT — Jeff Kitson. one of two employees for the Syracuse Park Department, is shown working in one of the flower beds at Lakeside Park. Lakeside Park will be the scene of a number of activities during the annual Wawasee Flotilla Festival over the long July 4 weekend, so Kitson is making sure the flower garden is in tip top shape for the many visitors to view. The three parks. Lakeside. Crosson and Ward, have a total six flower beds to be cared for. Members of the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club were responsible for seeing that all the beds were freshly planted with flowers at the beginning of the summer season. Lakeside Park has four flower beds this year, while Crosson and Ward Parks have one each. / Kitson is assisted in the care and upkeep of the parks by Bob Hickman. (Photo by Deb Patterson 1
