Meals for Older Americans*

Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The Scout Cabin. Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main. Warsaw ; Free Methodist Church, Winona Lake; and the Church of the Brethren, North Webster. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot. nutritional meals. The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request all persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. It featured puffed sleeves and a cathedral-length train. Her headdress consisted of pearls and cascades of lilies of the valley with a shoulder-length veil attached. The groom, a 1986 graduate of Whitko High School, is also a student at Purdue University and is a member of Farm House Fraternity. Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg. Tenn., the couple is presently residing in South Whitley. Mermaid Festival Ball The annual Mermaid Festival Ball, sponsored by the North Webster Lions Club, will be held Friday. June 16. at Camelot Hall in the International Palace of Sports. North Webster. Entertainment will be provided by "The Other Four Band'' of Warsaw. Completing the bride's ensemble was a pearl tiara with a scalloped finger-tip elusion veil and blusher. The brides attendants wore silk jackets in purple with rea blouses and black skirts. The groom s attendants wore black tails and grey striped troussers. The reception was held at Westminster in Goshen. At the receiving line on the lawn of Westminster, guests were greeted with the music of bagpipes. Julie Kaiser and Dick Doll wed in Milford on May 20

Julie Kaiser, Milford, became the bride of Dick Doll, also of Milford, on Saturday, May 20. at 2:30 p.m. in Wawasee Community Bible Church. Milford. Tom Speicher, pastor of the church, performed the double-ring ceremony in the presence of 285 guests. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kaiser, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold (Pete) Doll, all of Milford. The front of the church was decorated with green plants and two candelabra highlighted with pastel flowers. On the altar was placed a unity candle surrounded with pastel flowers and an open Bible with peach candles placed around it. Marie Tom of Milford was organist, with Tami Hollar, also of Milford, as soloist. Special selections included “Theme from Ice Castles.” “And On This Day,” and “Make Us One, Father.” The hymn, “Gentle Shepherd,” was sung by the congregation during the ceremony. The mothers were escorted to their seats by the groom, and were honored later in the ceremony with each being presented a rose by the bride and groom. The bride chose a white satin gown, which was accented with pearls and sequins and extended into a train comprised mostly of ruffles of satin. The gown also featured a Victorian-style neckline. The bridal hat of lace featured a veil attached in back, and the bride’s cascading bouquet consisted of pastel colored silk roses and carnations with ivy greenery. Matron of honor was Tonda Kaiser. Milford, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids were Heidi Musser and Angie Haines, both of Syracuse; and Kelli Mort. North Webster. The attendants wore peach tealength gowns which featured a Vneck, bows on shoulders and one big bow at waistline in back. Their headpieces, worn to the side, consisted of three pastel flowers. They carried candles surrounded with a wreath of pastel flowers. ■Flower girl was Jamie Doll. Milford, niece of the groom. Austin Kaiser. Milford, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. The buffet table consisted of ham, roast beef and turkey sandwiches, relish tray with dip. cheese tray and fresh fruit bowl. The cake table featured a wed- . ding cake surrounded by silk flowers and highlighted with a water fountain. There were pillars between the cakes and stairsteps leading to additional cakes. Punch and coffee were also served to the guests. The reception area was decorated with paper bells hanging from doorways, balloon bouquets and fresh flowers on the tables Hostesses for the reception were Kay Kammerer and Pam Polk, both of Leesburg and sisters of the bride.

No queen candidates entered

According to Kathy White, chairwoman of the “Queen of Lakes" Beauty Pageant, as of Thursday, June 1. no queen candidates had entered for the competition.
