Wide variety of restaurants are available in the Lakeland area
Most everyone enjoys dining out occasionally, especially when on vacation. The Lakeland area offers these people quite a variety of restaurants to choose from. In the area are restaurants for fine dining as well as a more casual atmosphere for those days when no one feels like getting all dressed up. With such a variety in tastes, the Lakeland area has something to please nearly everyone. There is everything from seafood to steaks to fried chicken, pizza; eat in or carry out. < Following are some of the restaurants in the area where people can dine out: For those who enjoy Chinese food Mary Ann Drive-In, Wawasee Village, SR 13, in Syracuse, is the place to go. American food is also available. If you’re in the Nappanee area, then Bounthanhs, 1058 W. Market St. (US 6 East), has what you want. They also have noon luncheon specials. Both places offer carry outs. If fish is what you’re hungry for, then Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh, SR 13S, Syracuse, has what you want. There is also a well stocked salad bar and cocktails are available. Carry outs are also available. The Beacon, located at Kale Island, Lake Wawasee, serve luncheon and dinner specials with cocktails being served. Barbee Hotel, Barbee Lake, has nightly food and cocktail specials. You can also dance to live bands playing top 40 music. Weekly luncheon specials are available at RC’s Pier, Pickwick Road, Syracuse, and cocktails are served. For sandwiches, ice cream, or favorite ice cream cakes special made to order, Dairy Queen Brazier, SR 13, Syracuse, is sure to please your appetite. If you’re hungry for a sandwich and salad, then stop at Subway Sandwiches, SR 13 in Syracuse. Pizza lovers can choose from Pizza 2 Pizzaria, SR 13S, North Webster; P.J.’s Too, corner of SR 13S and Armstrong Road, North Webster; Whetten Pizza, downtown Milford; and Pizza Hut, with two locations at 502 N. For those who enjoy going out for breakfast there are several restaurants who are open early: Three Flags, at both locations, SR 13S, Syracuse, and Southeast Bay Marina, Old Roads 8 and 13A, southeast shore of Lake Wawasee; McDonald’s, 1540 E. Market St. (US 6E), Nappanee, and the new location in Syracuse which will be opening this summer; J.R.’s Waterfront, Dixie Drive, North Webster; Ye Olde Pub, North Webster; South Shore Golf Course, SR 13, four miles south of Syracuse; England's Family Dining, Wawasee Village, Syracuse; The Rain Barrel, 1066 E. Lincoln St., Nappanee; The Ivy Hut, SR 13S, Wawasee Village, Syracuse; Fashion Farm Restaurant, Lincolnway West, one mile west of Ligonier; and Dari Point Restaurant. US 6 and 33 at the stoplight, Ligonier. All also serve lunch and dinner and most have daily and/or nightly specials.
