Lakeside Park offers visitors much to enjoy
With its large sandy beach, pavilion, barbecue grills and playground equipment, the Lakeside Park southeast of Milford has much to offer the visitors who will trek there this summer to enjoy the sun and the warm temperatures. Located off of CR 1150 N, on Waubee Lake, the beach and park have a little over 10 acres of area to offer patrons fun during the summer months. After having a fence installed around the grassy area of the park and having sewer and well projects taken care of last year, Joellen Free, president of the Milford Park Board, says that the facility will continue to undergo more improvements this summer. “We’re adding some more park benches and some new grills and we’re also in the process of developing an area for small preschool age children that will include play equipment in a fenced in area,” stated Free.

She added that park board is also trying to work with the county to get some more park signs put up near the park so that persons are able to find it easier. Free commented that the park is very popular with area fisherman in addition to the numerous persons who use the facility for swimming and sunbathing on the sandy beach area . Lakeside Park, which is used by parkgoers from all over the area, is watched over by a caretaker who lives at the facility year round. According to Free, this has resulted in less vandalism to the park and a cleaner, more attractive recreation spot for families to make use of. The park pavilion can be rented for family gatherings and the facility also has a concession stand for its patrons. The park officially opens on Memorial Day and remains open from dawn to dusk until Labor Day.
