Golfers now 11-7, preparing for NLC match on Saturday

JV baseball squad now 9-7 after loss to Northridge

The Wawasee junior varsity baseball team ran into an offensive buzzsaw on Monday afternoon at Northridge as the host Raiders blew past the Warriors 13-3 in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule "I wasn't disappointed with the way that we played because we were in the game, it was that they just crushed the ball and beat us," remarked coach Jerry Hawkins after seeing his squad drop their second straight and fifth out of their last six contests Wawasee; now 9-7 on the year, fell behind 6-0 after the first inning Monday and was never able to get back into the game as the Raiders poured it on scoring twice in the third, two more times in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to complete their 13-run attack The Warriors w ere only able to come up with three hits on their offensive side of the ledger as Aaron Sincroft. Tim Bradley and Buster Clevenger each collected a single "I don t think that we've been playing all that poorly lately but we've played some tougher teams in the past couple of weeks and they've been ready for us." stated Hawkins about the team's recent slump after starting the season with a 8-2 mark The JV squad will host Bremen today at 4:30 before completing the season next week with makeup games scheduled for Monday

On June 5 — Summer tennis lesson registration

Registration for the 1989 Wawasee summer tennis lesson program will be held on Monday. June 5. from 1-5 p.m on the tennis courts at Wawasee High School. The program, to be conducted by Wawasee tennis coaches Cindy Peterson and Roger Brady, will offer two. twoweek sessions with the first star ting on June 12. The first session of the program will be held from June 12-2.3 with the second session scheduled for June 26-July 7. The instruction classes will meet everyday for two weeks with the exception of the Pec-Wee classes which will meet on Monday. Wednesday and Thursday for the two week time frame-' The classes will be divided into five different groups based on the abilities on the individual player The Pee-Wee classes will be an introduction to tennis for players ages 6-8 with an emphasis on basics and drills to help improve eye-hand coordination. The Beginners class will introduce grips and the three basic strokes (forehand, backhand and serve) with an emphasis on teaching the basics of the game An Advanced Beginners class will continue to work on the fundamentals of the game while ad-

Defeat Columbia City, Adams Nigbor carded a round of 35 to capture low medalist honors for the match as Wawasee defeated Columbia City and South Bend Adams during a triangular match on May 10 at Wawasee Golf Course. Wawasee totaled 159 as a team during the triangular while the Adams team totaled 161 and the Columbia City squad shot 184 as the Warriors raised their season mark to 8-6 with the pair of wins. Coy led the Warrior offense with three hits, which included a double and a triple, while Chris Conkling and Erik Stevens each picked up a pair of hits in the contest.
