The dispatcher received a call from a person who requested an officer and possibly the emergency medical service on the Dewart Lake Road where a vehicle had flipped over The caller stated it was on the first road that turns left past the road to the duck farm. The report was given to Kosciusko County who requested the person be called back for better directions. The officer, when he arrived at the scene, reported

he did not seem to think there was an accident at that location He asked that the EMS not be sent at that time. THURSDAY, APRIL 27 The names of the floral shops in Syracuse were given to a caller by the dispatcher after the request was made. A person came to the dispatcher's office and reported several rough looking people sitting in front of an uptown business. The persons were also messing around with the manhole cover in that area. FRIDAY, APRIL 28 CSX u-as asked to halt all trains during the early morning hours after a tractor-trailer became hung up on the Main Street Railroad Crossing Garrett Police Department was notified to relay the message to the railroad company. Approximately 34 minutes later the all clear was given. A wrecker was used to remove the vehicle jt» Metal was reported on the roadway of Railroad Avenue by a security guard. Thirty minutes after the original call, the security guard reported it was believed the metal came off a truck that picks up scrap metal at a local business. The business was called but reported no truck had been there that morning. SATURDAY, APRIL 29 A message for a conservation officer was left after a man called and requested to know if a permit was needed for a dog that is? part wolf. There was no conservation officer available at the time The dispatcher received a report of persons driving go-carts in the cemetery. SUNDAY. APRIL 30 A conservation officer requested that a note be left for the person in charge of a bass tournament that day on Syracuse Lake, there were trailers blocking the launch area. The telephone number for CSX Railroad was given to a caller after reporting some articles had fallen off the train. MONDAY. MAY 1 A woman w ho saw a vehicle in her drive with a green light on top. used by the EMS on their vehicles for emergency runs, notified police of the incident The officer checked with the dispatcher to see if there had been any ambulance calls on CR 300E or any calls after 9 p.m . last night There were no ambulance calls. Yes. Pickwick Road is open was the reply given by the dispatcher to a caller who requested to know if the road was open now after the bridge work

Rick Purcell, ow ner/operator of the new McDonalds in Syracuse, donated SSOO from the company towards the scholarship. The local chapter has been established to show community support and en- - couragement to youth who are willing to reach out to new experiences of growth and development. The Dollars for Scholars Committee hopes to award scholarships to 1989 graduates. The scholarships will apply to technical, two-year and four-year schools.
