Harry R. Rodman Harry Ray Rodman, 75, E. Sixth St., New Paris, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 1989, in Fountainview Place, Goshen, where he had resided since January. He was born October 10,1913, in Noble County. On September 3, 1936, he was married to Martha M. Irwin, who passed away April 21,1975. Having moved from Albion to New Paris in 1940, he worked at Martin’s Feed Mill, New Paris, from 1953 until his retirement in 1972. His survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Hapner, New Paris; three sons/Walter A. Rodman, Lancaster, Pa., David A. Rodman, Cecil. Ohio, and Harvey R. Rodman. New Paris; 11 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreatgrandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Mary Helen) Keller. Kendallville, and Mrs. Ted (Pauline) Meyers and Mrs. Wava (Pearl) Duckworth, both of Fort Wayne; and six brothers. Charlie L. Rodman, Kendallville, Howard S. Rodman. Ligonier. Ralph M. Rodman. On August 21, 1915. in Crown Point, she married Rolland J. Belt, who passed away January 17,1973. Mrs. Belt was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart. Her survivors include two daughters, Juaneita Chaffee and Helen Jackson, both of Elkhart; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one sister. Moving from Kuhn Lake to Wooster in January 1987. she was a former bookkeeper and secretary in Springfield. Ohio. She and her husband had owned and operated the Log Cabin Resort at Kuhn Lake. Eldon Bartholomew Eldon Bartholomew, 88, a resident of Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, April <24, 1989, in the health care facility. Born February 23, 1901, in Milford, he was the son of George and Martha Bartholomew. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer. He has no immediate survivors. Hollar, 66, 371 Lakeview Dr.. Noblesville and formerly of Nappanee, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 23,1989, in his home. Born June 26, 1922, in Nappanee, he was the son of George W. and Arta M. Miller Hollar. He was married to Mary Bladefield; she survives. Having moved from Nappanee to Noblesville 34 years ago, he retired in 1983 from Noblesville A&P as a meatcutter. He was a veteran of World War 11, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Voiture 40&8 and Eagles Lodge, all in Noblesville. BB gun taken from home
Syracuse Police investigated a number of reports this past week including three accidents, a theft and damage to property. Debra Rowland. Syracuse, notified police Thursday. April 20. that someone had entered her home and damaged a lamp. A BB gun was taken. Damage to the " home was estimated up to S2OO and the gun was valued at S2O. Susan Gardner, an employee at Red-D-Mart. SR 13S. Syracuse, reported to police Saturday. April 22, that someone had backed a vehicle into a gas pump, breaking the nozzle. The incident was reported at 3:20 am: No damage estimate was available. Accidents Medical treatment was refused by a driver and his passenger following a two-vehicle accident Friday. DRIVER ARRESTED — Ray O. Nine. 28. 1010 E. Clark St., Warsaw, escaped without injuries from his overturned truck before it caught fire Saturday night. April 22. The accident occurred at 10:45 p.m.. on SR 13S. north of CR 1000 N and two miles south of Syracuse. Nine was cited for driving a vehicle while intoxicated. Kosciusko County Police Officer Tony Ciriello reported Nine was traveling north on SR 13 when he lost control of his 1979 Ford truck. The truck rolled over and caught fire. Syracuse Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was listed as a leak in the engine compartment. The truck was a total loss. Newcomer, who was traveling south-west on Wood Street, had stopped for the stop sign at the intersection and did not see the other vehicle. The vehicles collided when Newcomer pulled into the intersection. Driver inattention was the cause of a two-vehicle accident Monday. Hospital offers junior volunteer training course
A junior volunteer training course will be offered at Goshen General Hospital. The course, designed for girls and boys 14 years of age or older and in high school, provides an opportunity for the teen to learn hospital terminology. caring, and compassion for others. Junior volunteers can work in many areas of the hospital, filing in the medical laboratory, transporting physical therapy patients. assisting at meal time with patients, or taking care of new mothers and folding baby linens. Damage to the truck was listed at under S2OO and up to SI,OOO to the car. Two-vehicles collided at the . east access road and Pickwick Road Tuesday. April 18. at 1:04 p.m. Lorena A. Coblentz. 72. Fort Wayne, was traveling north on the access road in a 1985 Ford and was attempting to turn around. As she drove into the roadway on Pickwick Road, she did not see a 1988 Nissan driven by Angela S. Plummer. 24. North Webster. Before Coblentz could stop her vehicle it hit the Plummer vehicle. Damage to both vehicles was estimated up to SI,OOO each.
