Adwin Baugher, Sr. Former Goshen resident Adwin D. Baugher, 89, 1001 25th St., died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 1989, in Indian River Village Care Center, Vero Beach, Fla., after an extended illness. Born on September 1, 1889, in Etna, he moved from Goshen to Indian River County, Fla., 20 years ago. The former owner of a poultry farm, he was a member of the Christ. United Methodist Church by the Sea, Fla. His survivors include one daughter, Mary A. Steele, Vero Beach; two sons, Adwin D. Baugher, Jr., Ligonier, and Robert C. Baugher, Syracuse; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a m. Friday, Feb. 17, in CoxGifford Funeral Home Chapel, Vero Beach, with burial following in Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach. Mary Miller Mary Miller, 89, 830 West Solano Dr., Phoenix, Ariz., died Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, 1989, in a Phoenix hospital. Kissane, 73, r 6, Warsaw, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1989, in Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford. Born December 31, 1915, in Fifeshire, Scotland, he was the son of Matthew and Margaret St. John Kissane. On February 6, 1943, he was married to Catherine McKemna, who passed away in March 1976. Having moved from Chicago to Warsaw in 1949, he retired from Weatherhead-Dana, where he was a shipping and receiving clerk. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. HIP REPLACEMENT FOR NORTH WEBSTER MAN North Webster resident Jack Guy underwent hip replacement surgery on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. Guy was admitted to the hospital last Saturday. His family is uncertain at this time as to how long he will be hospitalized. SMITH RECOVERING FROM MAJOR SURGERY Dick Smith, PO Box 184, Milford, underwent major surgery at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Goshen Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital last Friday noon. His wife, Betty, reports he

Burial was in Oswego Cemetery. Paul L. Rathbun Paul L. Rathbun, 79, r 10, Warsaw, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 15, 1989, in St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born October 19, 1909, in Fox Home, N.D., he was the son of Benjamin H. and Florence Adams Rathbun On November 2, 1929, he married Delight Salmon; she survives. A resident of Kosciusko County for most of his life, he was a member of Cook's Chapel Church, Leesburg, Leesburg Masonic Lodge, Leesburg Order of the Eastern Star and was past president of Leesburg Lions Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Leon Rathbun, New Orleans, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Reid, Pierceton; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel P. Frank 0. Sawyer Frank O. Sawyer, 55, 156 South Main St., Nappanee, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 1989, of an apparent heart attack in his home. Born December 8, 1947, in Noble County, he was the son of Forrest “Junior” and Delores Owen. On December 1, 1987, he was married to Peggy Jean (Havener); she survives. A Noble County resident during most of his lifetime, Owen was a bail bondsman for Jack Lee & Associates, Fort Wayne. He was a member of the American Legion Post #240, Avilla, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served four years with the US Marine Corps and four years with the US Navy. Price, 20, r 2, Milford, was not injured when the 1974 Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving was struck by a 1989 Buick Regal, driven by Patricia L. Showalter, 31, 1507 South 16th St., Goshen, on Thursday morning, Feb. 16, in Goshen. Showalter, who was westbound on Plymouth Avenue, reportedly disregarded a traffic signal light, colliding with Price’s southbound truck. The Goshen woman was taken by city first aid ambulance to Goshen Hospital for X-rays and treatment. Investigating officer Ptl. C. Knowles reported that both drivers were wearing safety seat belts.
