' NEW CHURCH SHOW’S PROGRESS — The new Church of the Brethren, being built on CR 600 N just west of North Webster, is the project that church members and helpers from other churches will be working on this spring and summer. Ideal Construction Co., Warsaw, framed the building and added the roof trusses. Ralph R. Smith, pastor of the North Webster church, is pleased that the new church building will allow easy access for handicapped worshippers and former pastor Paul Shrider speaks highly of the willingness of local church members to help with the work. tasks. In addition to all these efforts, the former pastor is doing a large part of the manual labor of construction on the church building. “He’s really quite a man of God,” said Browning "to be working so hard even though he’s 73 years old.” ' Rev. Shrider is well qualified for his building efforts as he is a licensed plumber and heating engineer. He also served as head of maintenance at Manchester College for many years and was director of physical plant at Bethany Seminary in Oakbrook, 111., for 16 years. After retiring from the North Webster pulpit he singlehandedly installed an automatic hot water heating furnace in the church and then proceeded to cover all the wood trim on the outside of the building, even the belfry and louvres. Rev. Shrider said with pride, “The people of the congregation are very much involved in the project. We're going Jo be using all volunteer labor to finish the building and the work brings the people together in Christian fellowship." His pride in the members of the Video time correction for Church of God The "Say ‘NO’ To Sexual Pressure" video series to be held at the North Webster Church of God on Sunday nights from February 5 through March 19 will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. each week. This was reported as 6 to 7 p.m. under the picture of the church in the January 25 MailJournal. Church gives college scholarships Bethel Church of the Brethren in Milford presented scholarships to two church members during its worship service on Sunday. Jan. 29. Both recipients, Carl Rouch, a junior, and John Leininger, a senior, are currently students at Manchester College in North Manchester. Bethel Church will present at least one college scholarship each year that a worthy student is enrolled.

church showed as he related that 20 people were busy at the new church site last Saturday and 27 were involved the previous Saturday. Included in these numbers were women of the church who provided warm food and drink to keep the industrious crew going. The pastor also expressed appreciation to the workers of seven neighboring churches who have come to help build the church. These included groups from Goshen, Elkhart, New Paris and as far away as a church near Huntington.
Parable of Jesus For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market place, And said unto them; Go ye also into the . vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found ojhers standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, shall ye receive. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto this steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

future, like a center where there will be a permanent home for the agency, with meeting rooms and kitchen facilities. The board would also like to have a bus available to carry folks who no longer drive but who need to get to the store, meat market, bank, barber shop, library or other important spot in the sprawling Syracuse community. To acquire ß all this will take time and money. The building acquisition fund is receiving good community support.
