Remodeling underway at j Zion Chapel U.B. Church
j By GLEN LONG Staff Writer Worshippers who have not visited Zion Chapel, at the intersection of CR 1000 N and Syr.-Web. Road, for several weeks, may be surprised as they enter from the Sunday School section and find that the sanctuary has been completely turned arodnd. A raised pulpit area is now in place in front of the former front door and pews have been placed on the old pulpit platform. Don Merillat, pastor, said the reason for the extensive change is to provide additional seating in Film to be shown at Milford Church Paul Tinkel, pastor of Milford First Brethren Church, reported that the Dr. James A. Dobson film, “A Man Called Norman” will be shown for adult Sunday School classes at the fellowship hall on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m. The film is being sponsored by the Christian Workers Class. The fellowship hall is on the south side of Catherine Street in Milford.

the sanctuary and to enhance congregational access to and from the Sunday School part of the building. His wife, Carol, added that it makes a much better arrangement for weddings. “We gain about 25 pews in the sanctuary,” he said. “We’ll.be starting our carpet drive soon.” He added that after the winter heating season is over, the chimney will be moved so a new entrance door can be cut into the sanctuary from the new back wall. The pastor is considering the painting of a door frame on the wall to show worshipers where the new door will go. “This is a sizeable project for a small congregation,” he said, “but were sure that with the grace of God we will get it done in His own good time.” Merillat said the church is now reaching from 75 to 80 people each week and commented that the growth is slow but steady. He was pleased to report that- beginning Wednesday. Jan. 4, at 6 p.m. there will be a 12-week video series at the church. The videos will be shown again during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. This series, presented by Dr. John Bauchum and Dr. John White, is for parents and grandparents and is on the sub-
ject of all aspects of raising teenagers. The youth group of the church meets every Wednesday evening.

HERE'S PROOF! As Jeroboam approached the altar to burn incense to the golden calf-idol, a prophet of the Lord from Judah walked up to him. Then, at the Lord's command, the prophet shouted, "Oh altar, the Lord says that a child named Josiah shall be born into the family line of David, and he shall sacrifice upon you the priests from the shrines on the hills who come to burn incense; and men's bones shall be burned upon you. Then he gave this proof that his message was from the Lord: "This altar will split apart, and the ashes on it will spill to the ground." The king was very angry with the prophet for saying this. He shouted to his guards. "Arrest that man!" and shook his fist at him. Instantly the king’s arm became paralyzed in that position; he couldn't pull it back again! At the same moment a wide crack appeared in the altar and the ashes poured out, just as the prophet had said would happen. For this was the prophet's proof that God had been speaking through him. "Oh, please, please," the king cried out to the prophet, "beg the Lord your God to restore my arm again." (1 Kings 13.1-6)
