From the Syracuse Police Log is a weekly feature which presents a sampling of the incidents the officers from the Syracuse Fire Department and Syracuse Police Department are called upon to deal: TUESDAY, OCT. 25 An alarm went off at a business near Syracuse and Kosciusko County requested that a Syracuse officer investigate the alarm. The officer reported that everything was alright. Leaf burning is allowed in town Syracuse. A town resident contacted the fire chief and requested to know if leaves could be burnt. The fire chief responded and reported that leaves may be burnt before sundown and not on asphalt roads. had found the item after he filed a report on Tuesday that the snow blower was stolen from his Medusa Street home A dog that got away was soon found. A woman who lives at Greenhaus Apartments notified police that her dog had gotten loose. She gave a description of the dog. Another caller called approximately 19 minutes lateiwanting to know if anyone had reported a missing dog. The second caller gave a description which THURSDAY, OCT. 27 The driver of a disabled vehicle left along US 6, near SR 13, could not find the vehicle several days later. Syracuse Police were notified by the driver of a vehicle that was left on US 6 a couple of days ago, that he was unable to locate the disabled vehicle. A check with Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department found that
the vehicle had been impounded and the vehicle owner had to contact the wrecker service that had the vehicle impounded. An officer was contacted to provide a caller with information regarding the seat belt and restraint laws. Children up to three years of age must be in a car seat and children three to five must wear a seat belt or use a booster seat with a restraining belt. Also, all front seat passengers must wear a seat belt in passenger vehicles. FRIDAY, OCT. 28 A firemen was sent to help a caller who had problems with a snibke alarm that was going off, but there was no smoke. Syracuse Police received a call from a person requesting to know if there were any haunted houses in the area. The dispatcher told the caller there were none in Syracuse and to call North

Webster. 6 SATURDAY, OCT. 29 The telephone number of the conservation department was given to a caller after it was requested regarding the deer crossing on US 13. The number given was 457-5757. Everything was reported alright at a fire on CR 300E. The fire department received a call from a person who reported doing some burning on CR 300E in the area of Dewart Lake. SUNDAY, OCT. 30 There was more than just one pumpkin smashed in the streets. Police were notified of two pumpkins smashed in the middle of a street and the officer reported that there have been several other reports also. Syracuse received a call from a person who wanted to report a runaway from the Milford area. The caller was asked to contact a
Milford Police Officer according to the sheriff’s department. MONDAY, OCT. 31 Officers were not able to find a vehicle on US 6 after it was reported that someone was sleeping iri'a running vehfdlt.Elkfiart County Sheriff’s Department requested that Syracuse send an officer to check out the report, however the vehicle had apparently left before an officer arrived. A caller was asked to contact the county sheriff’s department after requesting to know where a justice of the peace could be located. The county dispatcher told the caller to contact the courthouse for further information. Just SO Propaganda is baloney so artfully disguised that it passes as food for thought. — Enquirer, Chicago.
