Mutual Federal plans Fidelity acquisition
Mutual Federal Savings Bank, Muncie, announced that it has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with Fidelity Federal Savings Bank, Marion, providing for the acquisition of 100 percent of Fidelity’s outstanding shares of common stock for $21.50 per share, in cash. The acquisition is subject to stockholder and regulatory approval and the receipt of a fairness opinion from Raffensperger, Hughes and Company. Both parties have agreed to begin work promptly toward completion of a definitive agreement for the acquisition which will contain customary representatives and warranties. The Let-

10 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 14,1978 The Syracuse Church of God will hold a youth kick-off on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 7-8:30 p.m. The film, “The Haunted Churchbell” will be shown. Refreshments will also be served. Steve Tracey of Syracuse and a member of the Wawasee Kiwanis was speaker for the club meeting on Saturday morning. A resident of the Syracuse community for the past years, is director of marketing for Starcraft Company of Goshen and spoke to the club on the history and origin of the company. The first meeting of the. Primary Mothers Club of Syracuse for the club year was held in the home of Mrs. Mike Mangas with Mrs. Rick Baker and Mrs. David Ridings and cohostesses. A pot-luck dinner was held with the ladies buying recipes of the dishes they enjoyed most. As roll was called the ladies revealed their secret sisters from the past year. Members of the Wawasee Future Farmers of America soil judging team traveled to Clinton Central High School near Frankfort on Saturday, to compete in the Young Farmers Invitation soil judging contest. Mr. Beemer will represent the American Institute of Kitchen Dealers of which Beemer Enterprises, Inc. is an accredited / member. Members of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce are now selling tickets for the dinner meeting which will feature Indiana’s Lt.-Governor Robert Rock as speaker. Mrs. E. W. (Dorothy) Frauhiger, a new member of the Kale Island jet set, returned on Sunday, Sept. 1, from a two-week trip to Hawaii, and is busy telling the girls of the round table about it. She made the trip with an Indiana Elks tour and had as her companion a longtime friend, Dorothy McCulley of Elkhart. Another golfer and fisherman has been added to the community roles in the person of Richard K. Brown, new manager of Budget Investments, Syracuse.

She’s the blonde daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Myrick. 39 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 11,1958 The second record hop sponsored by the Syracuse Police force will be held Saturday night at the scout cabin. Don Enyeart, chief marshal, said several rules have been established to keep the program at its best. George M. Harvey, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Geroge Harvey, appeared on WSBT-TV Channel 22 on 27 August with “Toro” his 3% month old St. Bernard puppy. The program was “Puppies in the Home,” on “Homemakers Time” and George was interviewed by Miss Burnett. There were three other children with their puppies which wee a boxer, a dachshound, and a chihuahua. Toro made himself quite at home in the studio displaying the even temper characteristics of his breed said his owners. George made a hit with the camera men who gave him a personal invitation to visit the studio anytime. Frank Hale, PTA president, announced this week the formation of the PTA executive committee for the 1958-59 year. Included in the roster of officers are Mrs. Beaulah Bushong, Gerald Cramar. The office of the vice presidency, vacant due to the departure from Syracuse of Mrs. Kenneth Foulke, will be filled during a brief election at the first fall PTA meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening, 16 September. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bartman Jr., are parents of a daughter, Kathryn Ann, born Friday, 5 September at their home in Syracuse. Harry M. VanHemert of Syracuse, president of Educational Map and Chart Service, Inc., was guest speaker at Rotary Club Monday noon. He spoke on No injuries in three accidents at Syracuse Three accidents were investigated by Syracuse Police between last Wednesday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Sept. 24, with no injuries reported in any of the incidents. Up to $2,500 damage was caused to a 1987 Nissan Sentra when it struck a deer that attempted to cross the road. Jim L. White, 50, Syracuse, was traveling east on CR 700 N when the deer entered his path from the south, threefourths mile west of CR 300E, at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Driver inattention contributed to a two-car collision on SR 13,480 feet south of Pittsburgh Street. Douglas A. Price, 18, Syracuse, was traveling north on SR 13 in a 1978 Pontiac Firebird when he struck a 1970 Chevrolet Nova that had stopped to wait for a crossing train. The Nova, driven by Tony Vanover, 19, Syracuse, and the Price vehicle both suffered up to SI,OOO damage in the accident, which occurred at 3:35 p.m. last Thursday, Sept. 22. A hidden wire was pulled from a house at 718 Pittsburgh St., causing up to $2,000 damage to a light meter and entrance wire at the Kenneth Hall home at 1:05 p.m. last Wednesday, Sept. 21. James L. Zuber, 40, Fort Wayne, was traveling east on Pittsburgh Street when the 1988 Ford Semi he was driving struck the wire, which was hidden by tree limbs and leaves.

The Sweet Adelines, from Fort Wayne, will be presenting a muscial program called “Saturday Night Bandstand” on Oct. 8 Ostomy Support Group to meet The next meeting of the Ostomy Support Group will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 7-9 p.m. in the administrative classroom of Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Free cholesterol screenings will be provided by Mendenhall Pharmacy. The Ostomy Support Group meets/ the fourth Thursday of every other month.
Wawaseem from Waco to Sargents Hotel, a distance of two miles in an hour and five minutes. Patty with her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Stilson and sister Sally of Anderson, are guests at the Sargent Hotel. Miss Stilson, besides being an expert swimmer, just recently passed the American Red Cross junior life saving tests. . Louis A. Neff, dropped into the Journal office and told the writer he was just 83 years old today, (Friday.) Uncle Lew was bom on the old Neff Homestead, over in Elkhart County, IV2 miles northwest of Syracuse. The little log house that was the Neff home set in the virgin woods of that day.
