i By SCOTT DAVIDSON Staff Writer / “This was a match that we had won but then we let it turn into a loss,” stated Wawasee Boys’ Tennis Coach Roger Brady, following last night’s (Tuesday) 2-3 loss to Manchester. The match wasn’t decided until well into the darkness of the evening, as Wawasee number one singles player Jason Hollar and Matt Snell, Manchester’s number one performer, battled for over two and one-half hours. Snell came out victorious in the end of the grueling match by winning the tiebreaker (8-6) in the third set. In other singles play for the Warriors, number two player Kermit Kropf defeated Eric Christiansen, 7-6, 6-4, and senior Mike Leedy, playing in his final home match, defeated Brian Kreps, 6-3,6-2. The Warriors’ number one doubles combination of Jerry Smith and Mason Robbins were beaten by John Bazzoni and Jared Christiansen by scores of 6-3, 6-7, 4-6. Wawasee’s number two doubles duo of Chris Shidler and Adam Wilson also dropped their match to Tim Kreps and Tim McLaughlin. Wawasee finished the regular season at 7-7 (3-4 in the NLC), with a sixth place in the conference after finishing seventh in the NLC Tournament last Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24, at Plymouth. The NLC Tournament was won by Concord (37 points), who also finished the season as NLC champions. Following Con-

cord in the NLC Tournament were Warsaw (31), Bremen (25), Plymouth (25), Goshen (20), Northridge (15), Wawasee (7) and North Wood, (2). The final NLC standings show Concord as champions (15% points) followed by Warsaw (13), Goshen (11%), Plymouth (10%), Bremen (8), Wawasee (6), Northridge (5%) and North Wood (2). Brady commented that he was disappointed with the results of the NLC Tourney, even though his singles players played some of their best matches of the / season. He added that the performance of Wawasee’s doubles teams was what hurt the team’s finish because the two teams were only able to gain one point between them. “Our sixth place finish in the NLC is as good as we’ve ever done, so our program is getting better and more consistent,” stated Brady, looking back over the season as a whole. He added that the team won all of the matches that it was supposed to but that it couldn’t break through against the opponents that were of the same caliber or slightly better. The Warriors assured themselves of at least a .500 season when they defeated Northridge last Wednesday, Sept. 21, by a score of 3-2. Hollar, Kropf and Leedy all captured their singles matches while both of the doubles teams, Smith and Robbins and Shidler and Wilson, were beaten. “Our singles players had a good match and this win raised us to fifth in the NLC and gives us a chance at an above, .500 season,” stated Brady after the
