Relief sole to be held on Sept. 24
The 21st annual Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 6 a.m. to mid-afternoon. Quilts, foods and handcrafts made by hundreds of Mennonite and Amish volunteers and overseas artisans, plus antiques, will be available for purchase. The sale, to be held at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, a mile east of the high school, in Goshen, is expected to attract many thousands of people from Indiana, Michigan and surroundingstates. All money from the sale will be contributed to the world-wide relief and service programs of Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, Pa. The total contributed from last year’s sale was $490,000. The following auctions will begin at the times listed and continue until all items are sold: quilt, 8 a.m.; antique, 9 a.m.; new and used items, 10:30 a.m. Run for Relief will begin at 8 a.m. In addition to the Saturday activities, there will be an Open House from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23. Foods will be served on the grounds during that time. Self Help Craft items made by overseas artisans will also be on sale. Open house gives interested persons the opportunity to College class offered Manchester College is offering a graduate level education course at two locations off campus this fall. Project TEACH is being offered for the first time in both Warsaw and Rochester. A three credit course, Project TEACH is designed to produce successful classroom management. Verbal skills and strategies, that produce positive communication will be emphasized. How to gain student cooperation, use group dynamics to create a winning environment, resolve differences of opinion faster, reduce, confypntations, and determine the best solutions will be studied. The class will be conducted on Wednesdays at Warsaw Com-, munity High School beginning Sept. 7 and on Thursdays at Rochester Middle School beginning Sept. 8. It will also be offered at the college on Mondays beginning Sept. 12. All classes will meet from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dr. Warren Garner, chair of the department of education and director of teacher education, will conduct the Warsaw and college classes. Dr. Richard W. Robison, professor of education, will meet with the Rochester class. Pre-registration by phone or mail is necessary. All vehicles shall come to a full and complete stop at the intersection of Pickwick Road and Harkless Drive in the Town of Syracuse, Indiana. Section 2. Appropriate signs shall be erected at said intersection giving notice of the provisions of this Ordinance and shall be in place at the time of any alleged offense. Section 3. Any person in any of the terms or provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in an amount of not less than Five Dollars ($5) nor more than Fifty Dollars (SSO). Any person charged with a violation of this Ordinance may, In lieu of being charged for such violation in Court for the penalties prescribed herein, pay to the Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Syracuse for the benefit of the General Fund of said town, within thirty (30) days after being charged with any such violation, the sum of Five Dollars ($5) for each such violation if paid within five (5) days of the violation, or if such sum has not been paid within said five (5) days, then by paying the sum of Five Dollars ($5) plus an additional One Dollar ($1) for each day from the time of the violation charged to the date of payment, with such total sum not to exceed Twenty-five Dollars ($25). Section 4. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict or inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 5.
