Iness Mock Iness M: Mock, 84, 712 North Huntington St., Syracuse, died at 1 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 1988, in Miller’s Merry Manor! Syracuse. She was born June 20, 1904, in Durand, -Wis., to David and Althea (Baker) Cripe. On June 18, 1929, she married Rev. Clayton Mock, who survives. Mrs. Mock moved to Syracuse in 1948 from Stanley, Wis. She worked as a cook in the Wawasee High School cafeteria and was a member of Syracuse Church of the Brethren and an honorary member of the Ladies Round Table, Syracuse. Other survivors include one son, Gordon Mock, Middlebury; two grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Merrill Cripe, Minneapolis, Minn. Services wee held Sunday, July 10, in the Syracuse Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Arnold Neff officiating. Burial was in the Syracuse Cemetery. No injuries as cars collide
Driver inattention contributed to two accidents in Syracuse between Saturday, July 9, and Monday, July 11. No injuries were reported in either of the incidents. Haydee Gonzales, 24, Milford, was attempting to turn a 1978 Plymouth Fury from a private driveway onto SR 13 while Shawn E. Jones, 17, Syracuse, was pulling into the same road from Palm Drive and the vehicles collided. The Gonzales vehicle suffered up to $2,500 in damages while the 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

PHYLLIS ROY TO UNDERGO SURGERY Phyllis Roy, former owner of The Chateau restaurant in Milford, will undergo back surgery on Thursday, July 14, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. She is expected to remain in the hospital three to five days. EDITH BAUMGARTNER BACK IN HER HOME Mrs. Herb (Edith) Baumgartner, Milford, was released to her home on Tuesday morning, July 12, from Lakeland Loving Care, Milford. Mrs. Baumgartner has been a resident in the nursing home/for nearly three weeks. Syracuse EMS The Syracuse Emergency Medical Service made the following ambulance runs this past week: At 7:21 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, the EMS was called to Sea Nymph. Rodney Alan Chiddister, 26, r 2 Hidaway Hills, Warsaw, was transported to Goshen Hospital. Josiah King, two, Lot 929 King Arthur Drive, Enchanted Hills, was taken to Goshen Hospital after the EMS was called at 1:39 p.m. Thursday, July 7, to the Enchanted Hills beach. Joann Smith, 80, r 4 Waco Dr., Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital after the EMS was called to her home at 10:36 a.m. Friday, July 8. Brett Stahly, 27, r 4 box 718, Syracuse, was not transported to a hospital after the EMS was called to 77 Pawnee, Syracuse, at 3:07 p.m. Friday. The EMS was called to CR 1350 N and SR 15 at 4:56 p.m. Friday. Andy Kneller, 17, P.O. Box 264, North Webster, was taken to Goshen Hospital. Sherrie Wogoman, 44, 736 North Huntington Street; Syracuse, was not taken to a hospital after she came to the fire station at 7 p.m. Friday. Kevin Bell, two, 212 E. John St., Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital after the EMS was calk ed to his home at 10:29 p.m. Friday. The EMS was called to a location near the Crows Nest at 3:33 a.m. Saturday, July 9. day, July 10, 1988, in Goshen Hospital, following an extended illness. She was the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Simmons) Burkhart, and was born in Ligonier on March 16, 1911. In 1926, she married Don LeCount, who died in 1945. In 1963, she married Harold J. Nicolai, who preceded her in death in 1982. A member of the Zion Chapel Church, near. Syracuse, Mrs, Nicolai was a homemaker and had resided in the Syracuse area most of her life. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Jean) Kern, North Webster, Mrs. Harry (Barbara) Gladieux, Warsaw, Sharon Zippy, Syracuse, and Mrs. Robert (Sue) Hasse, Cape Canaveral, Fla.; three sons, Donald LeCount, Nappanee, Robert LeCount, Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Brook LeCount Black, Anderson; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Nancy Sternamen, Elkhart; one stepson, Larry Nicolai, Greeley, Colo.; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary Amos, Lake Placid, Fla., and one brother, Robert Burkhart, Ligonier. driven by Jones sustained up to SI,OOO in damages. In a one-car collision at 11:31 a.m. Saturday, July 9, up to SI,OOO damage was caused to a 1986 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Stephen L. Roberts, 22, Ligonier. Roberts was attempting to back from a parking lot off East Main Street when he struck a United Telephone Co., Inc., pole. No monetary damage was caused to the pole, while Roberts was issued a ticket for failing to have a driver’s license in his possession.
Hospital. The EMS was called to the first curve west of Crazy Corners on Bowser Road at 3:38 a.m. on Saturday, however, no patient was found. Lawrence Birkel, 57, no address given, was transported from Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, to Kosciusko Community Hospital on Saturday. The EMS made the transport at 5:28 p.m. Aaron Gans, ■ one year, two months, 125 West Brooklyn St., Syracuse, was not taken to a hospital on Sunday, July 10, after the EMS was called to his home at6:42p.m. Robert E. White, 45, 4215 11th St., New Castle, was taken to Goshen Hospital after he was brought to the fire station at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Todd Hackleman, 21, r 6 box 74, Connersville, was taken to Goshen Hospital Monday, July 11, after he was brought to the fire station at 9:01 p.m. Ruby Hay, 84, Box 141 Warner Road, Syracuse, was transported to Goshen Hospital. Witham Ida Lillian Witham, 79, Atwood, died yesterday, Tuesday, at 1:30 a.m. in her home. Death was of an apparent heart attack. She was born in Kosciusko County on February 1, 1909, to Burton and Aurel (Secor) Hatfield. She was married to Arthur Witham who preceded her in death in 1959. For many years, Mrs. Witham was a cook in the Mentone schools. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Warsaw and the Atwood Senior Citizens. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Howard (Patricia) Stutzmart, Plymouth, Mrs. Rex (Betty) Zimpleman, Mentone, Mrs. Beverly Johnston, Etna Green, and Mrs. Alan (Sandra) Rovenstine, Atwood; one son, Rex Witham, Mentone; 33 grandchildren; 44 greatgrandchildren; one great-great-child; and three sisters, Mrs. Dan (Pearl) Cerlesi, Mishawaka, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Hyde and Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Voss, Both of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by two sons, one sister, and seven brothers. Friends may call tomorrow, Thursday, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. in King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will be held there Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Price officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.

She weighed eight pounds, seven ounces and measured 20>/ 2 inches long. Megan Kathleen is the couple’s first child. Maternal grandparents are Don and Nancy Arnold, Milford. Conwell, 34, r 6 box 97L, Warsaw; Helen J. Bailey, 74, r 3 box 404, Syracuse, and Vaughn E. Bailey, 80, r 3 box 404, Syracuse, were taken by Milford Emergency Medical Service to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Conwell complained of pain to the abdomen/pelvis area; Mrs. Bailey suffered a fracture to the pelvis; and Bailey sustained contusion or bruise to the shoulder. Kosciusko County police report that Mrs. Bailey was traveling east on CR 900 N and failed to stop for the stop sign colliding with the Conwell vehicle that was traveling south on Old State Road 15. Conwell told police she tried to avoid the collision but could not. ACCIDENT AT OVERPASS INJURES FIVE — Drivers of two vehicles and their passengers were injured in an accident Friday, July 8, at 4:45 p.m. at CR 1350 N and SR 15 at the overpass. Ambulances from Milford, New Paris and Syracuse transported the five injured persons to Goshen Hospital. / James Charters, 18, r 1, Milford, driver of one of the vehicles, sustained bruises and to the head and was transferred to Elkhart Hospital. Dean Coverstone, 62, r 2, Leesburg, suffered minor lacerations and bruises and was treated and released from Goshen Hospital. Passengers in the Charters’ vehicle, Andrew Kneller, 17,’P.0. passenger in the other vehicle, complained of pain to the chest and right hand and also ’ Indiana State Police reported Charters was westbound on CR 1350 N and failed to stop for the stop sign at SR 15 pulling out in front of the northbound Coverstone vehicle. The 1973 Fort Mustang convertible, owned by Charters, was a total loss and damage listed up to SB,OOO to the 1987 Oldsmobile driven by Coverstone. Occupants of the Charters vehicle were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident according to police. Both persons in the Coverstone vehicle did have their seatbelts in use.
