Area winners highlight Flotilla race
SYRACUSE — Ed Deiwert of Greensburg and North Manchester’s Penny Grandstaff were the big winners in Saturday’s eight mile Flotilla Road Race. Other winners included Brian Shepherd and Jennifer Titus in the 3.3 mile race. The 11-year race was sponsored by Pilcher’s Shoes for the first time in race history. The new sponsor added a 3.3 walk which drew a large- amount of walkers. Deiwert, 33, finished in 44:00, nearly three seconds off the course record. Craig Lockerbie, 20, of Goshen was seven seconds behind the winner. ° „ Local age group winners in-

Wawasee fjbotball opens camp, conditioning drills
SYRACUSE - Football camp for boys currently in grades five through eight will be held at Wawasee High School July 11-22. Camp director is Warrior head football coach Myron Dickerson. Fifth and sixth graders will attend camp from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Seventh and eighth graders have camp from 10:15 until 11:45 a.m. The camp is not a physical contact activity, but will introduce and enhance the players’ football skills and fundamentals.
