Eugenia Baldwin Eugenia Mae (Banghart) Baldwin, 69, 1408 Ventura Lane, Fort Wayne, died Friday morning, June 10,1988, in her home. Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Warsaw, she was the daughter of Alva and Ethel (Aiken) Banghart. She was a resident of Fort Wayne since 1944, and was employed with Supermarket Services for seven years. She retired in 1984. Survivors include her husband, John Baldwin; two daughters, Sandra Flotow, Fort Wayne, and Vivian Daler, Angola; eight grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Niles, Syracuse; and one brother, Norman Banghart, Warsaw. Services were held Monday, June 13, in Klaehn’s South Anthony Chapel, Fort Wayne, with Rev.. Jack Sorlie officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Stephen Freeman Stephen Freeman, Jr., 84, a professor emeritus of Purdue University, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 1988, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill and a patient there since April 26. He lived at 2741 N. Salisbury Ave., West Lafayette. He was born Jan. 7. 1904, in Wabash, the son of Stephen and Josephine (Walter) Freeman of Syracuse and Lake Wawasee. He was a 1920 graduate of Syracuse High School. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1925 and received his master’s degree in 1926 having completed a cooperative course with General Electric. Electronic Engineers, and an honorary member of ATA Kappa Nu, a student honorary association for electrical engineers. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette. On June 22, 1929, in Auburndale, Mass., he was married to Ruth Obermeyer, who survives. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Freeman; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Margaret Anne) Ulerich of Picayune, Miss.; three sons, Stephen Freeman 111, Ridgecrest, Calif., Dr. Mark Leslie Freeman, Menomonee Falls, Wis., and David Matthew Freeman, Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Margaret Freeman and Mrs. Lucy Kroh, both of Syracuse; and one brother, Dr. Joseph W. Freeman of Spring Hill, Fla. One son, John Alfred Freeman, and one brother, James B. Freeman, preceded him in death. Kurtz, 71, 413 Cross St., Goshen, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 1988, in Goshen General Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was ill six months. She was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Millersburg, and was a lifetime area resident. She was employed with the former Caswell-Runyan Co. and Proof Co. Survivors include five sisters, Frances Jones and Sabina Kline, both of Elkhart, Virginia Bissinger, Syracuse, Rubie Kurtz and Alyce Kurtz, both of Goshen. Roy (Foxy) Spry, 78, North Webster, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 1988, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born April 10, 1910, in Etna Township, Kosciusko County, and was the son of Charles and Cora (Hair) Spry. On Dec. 19, 1938, he married Virginia VanCuren, who died in 1979. LEROY MILLER SUFFERS STROKE Leßoy Miller, Goshen, stepfather of Mrs. Bob (Ann) Brooks, Milford, was admitted to Goshen Hospital on Friday, June 10, after suffering a stroke. Robert K. Swanson Robert K. Swanson, 62, Jefferson Township, Whitley County, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 1988, in Whitley County Memorial Hospital. He was born March 21,1926, in Chicago, the son of Helge A. and Anna E. (Frost) Swanson, natives of Sweden and Finland, respectively. He married Betty J. Jordon, who died, and later married Alverda Arnold, who survives. He attended school and lived in South Bend until he was 32, residing at his present address for 30 years. A World War II United States Air Force veteran, he was employed as a technological maintenance man at Magnavox, Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 1906, Columbia City, and the National Rifle Association. He was the owner of J&W Market in Wellsville, Ohio, moved to the Nappanee area in 1971 and retired as a sheet metal worker for Patterson Industries. He was a World War II Air Force veteran, a member of the Nappanee American Legion Post 154, Steel Workers of American Union, Liverpool, and transported the' Amish in the area. Edwin H. Lejuste $ Private graveside services will be held Friday, June 17, in Milford Cemetery for Edwin Higbee Lejuste, 71. He passed away January 24, 1988, in Farmington Hills, Mich., where he resided with his wife, Carol. He was the son of Eugene and Louise (Higbee) Lejuste and the grandson of Edwin and Olive Higbee. Lejuste was born in the old Higbee family home on South Main Street in Milford on March 30, 1917. That home was built by his great-grandfather, Dr. Edwin Higbee, in 1862. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Carolyri Lejuste, Margaret LejusteKingsley, Gene Lejuste-Hudson; two granddaughters, Sara and Emily Hudson; two sons-in-law; two and sisters, Suzanne Donnelly, California, and Cynthia Bortz, Holly, Mich. Rev. Neal Hunt will conduct the services. The body was cremated. Stella Evoy Mrs. Stella (Ruch) Evoy passed away June 13, 1988, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, 111., after a brief illness. She was born on March 13,1921, to Samuel and Ida Ruch. She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Karen Vahle of Springfield; three grandch ildre n ; t h ree greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Ruch, Milford, and Martha Ruch, Syracuse; and one brother, Russell Ruch, Milford. Services will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) -in Springfield. Brandon Stewart Infant Brandon Lee Stewart, r son of Jerry and Tammy (Ryman) Stewart, 69261 CR 17, New Paris, was stillborn at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 1988, in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend. In addition to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stewart, survivors include maternal grandparents, Larry and Jdnice Ryman, Milford ; paternal grandfather, Melvin Stewart, New Paris; paternal grandmother, Arneal Dillon, Nappanee; maternal great-grandmother, Lois Gilbert, Milford; maternal great- ’ grandparents, Don and Maxine Ryman, Nappanee; paternal great-grandmothers, Lucille Stewart, New Paris, and Irene Pippenger, Nappanee. Services were held Sunday, June 12, in Thompson & Yoder « Funeral Home, Nappanee, with Rev. Tim Barthalomew officiating. Prayer services were in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
