Miss Janet Dunno’s seventh grade pre-algebra team. Square Roots 1, composed of Miranda Wolfe and Jesse Rude, placed sixth out ,of 26 teams. A second seventh grade team, Square Roots 2, composed of Sheri Broekers and Brent Harker, placed 24th. The eighth grade algebra team of Brian Baker, Sara Kline and Karen Yoder competed against 23 other teams. The Syracuse team finished in a tie for fifth. Ciriello and Bronsing chased the cyclist on CR 200N to CR 400E and south from CR 525E and east to CR 100 N. At the intersection of CR 600E and CR 100 N Ciriello was a short distance behind the rider and Bronsing was following closely behind. As the trio crested a hill at the intersection, the motorcycle rider locked the brakes, forcing Ciriello to do the same or run over the rider. Bronsing was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid the collision. Bronsing was able to serve to the left to avoid a direct impact. Speeds during the 10-minute chase reached near 100 miles per hour. Following the accident Bronsing complained of pain to his ankle and lower leg and was treated and released at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage was estimated up to $5,000 to the 1985 Chevrolet Impala driven by Ciriello and up to $2,500 to the 1986 Ford driven by Bronsing. Chest Injuries Larry D. Phillips, 38, r 5 box 115, Syracuse, sustained chest injuries following an accident Tuesday, May 31, at a.m. ’on CR 300E, south of Oswego. Phillips was south bound on CR 300E when a deer ran out in front of his truck. Phillips told Kosciusko County Police he served to miss it and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go off the road and roll over. The sheriff’ department states Phillips was pinned in his vehicle and the truck did catch fire. Royce Beeson, a Warsaw bus driver, stopped at the scene and gave a fire extinguisher to Doug Havey who put out the fire, saving Phillips’ life. No damage estimate to the truck was available.

Guadalupe M. Zuniga, 35, r 5 box 3818, Syracuse, complained of pain to the chest Thursday, June 2, after a one-vehicle accident on SR 15 at CR 600 N, at 11:10 a.m. She told police she was heading south on SR 15 and observed a vehicle in front of her making a right turn. She applied the brakes and started to skid. The 1984 Nisson truck started to skid, crossed the center lane and into a ditch rolling over. Damage to the vehicle was estimated up to $2,500. Driver inattention is listed as contributing circumstances for an accident Saturday, June 4, at 2:52 p.m. on CR 650 N, west of North Webster. Mabie E. Dillon, 77, r 2 box 336, Leesburg, suffered a fracture to her lower arm. The driver reported she was heading west on CR 650 N when the vehicle dropped off the north side of the road and went into a ditch before hitting a cement culvert. No damage amount was available to the 1977 Oldsmobile. No Injuries Laverne Sturgill, 41, r 1 box 63A, Warsaw, and Leann D. Kern, 24, r 1 box 642 J, Leesburg, were not injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, June 1, at 6:49 a.m. on CR 450 N, southwest of North Webster. Sturgill was heading west on CR 450 N when the Kern driven vehicle pulled out in front her vehicle from CR 475E. Kern told police she stopped and looked before proceeding but did not see any oncoming traffic. Damage to the 1985 Chevrolet Eurosport driven by Sturgill and to the 1986 Plymouth Turismo were estimated at up to $5,000 each. w Improper passing is blamed for an accident Wednesday, June 1, at 9:20 p.m. on SR 15 near CR 350 W. Shop in Oswego has unexpected visitor Dallas Ison, 34, 318 Williams St., Milford, formerly of Bainbridge, Ohio, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after the vehicle he was driving crashed into Shue’s Curiosity Shop in Oswego. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. The antique store, which is located at the comer of Armstrong Road and Third Street in Oswego, is owned by Marjorie Shue, r 2 box 54-2, Leesburg. It has been vacate for the last two years. The store’s front display windows were smashed and the west side was bulging. Ison told investigating officers that he was westbound on Armstrong and heading home from North Webster and didn’t remember what happened. His 1968 Chevrolet left the roadway and went through the front of the building. He suffered facial cuts and a possible broken nose. He was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital and released. He was later released from jail on a $350 bond. Damage to the building was estimated at between SIO,OOI-$25,000.

305, Leesburg, told police he started to pass a vehicle driven by Roger L. Shenefield, 54, r 9 Lot 195, Warsaw, and noticed another vehicle in front of the Shenefield vehicle. Anglin stated he didn’t think he had room to pass both vehicle so he pulled in between the two cars, cutting off the Shenefield vehicle. Shenefield then passed Anglin and cut him off. Anglin pulled off the side of the road and tried to pull back on the road at the same time Shenefield was pulling back into the traveled portion of the road, causing a collision. Damage was estimated up to SI,OOO to Anglin’s 1980 Chevrolet and under S2OO to Shenefield’s 1985 GMC truck.

Bess, r 1 box 157-Z, Milford, were among the 360 Warsaw Community High School graduates to receive their diplomas on Friday evening, June 3, in the high school’s gymnasium. Beth Ann’s parents and her brother Rick, a junior at Manchester College, hosted an open house in their home on Sunday afternoon, June 5. There were 65 guests in attendance, including Beth Ann’s grandmother, Lois Thompson, West Milton, Ohio; her grandmother’s cousin, Frances Miles, Troy, Ohio; Beth Ann’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Thompson, Oak Brook, Ill.; and her grandfather, Glenn Stauffer, who resides at Greencroft in Goshen. An open house for Mary Kay was hosted by her mother in their home on Sunday afternoon, June 5. Mrs. Bess was assisted by her daughter, Angie Haines, and Linda Helms, both of Milford. Assisting at the gift table were Mgry Kay’s neighborhood friends, Kris Dimick and Jennifer Morgan. Among the 75 guests who attended were relatives from Chesterton, Porter, Bristol and Elkhart.
