Two accidents investigated by police
Two accidents were investigated by Syracuse Police last Wednesday, June 1, and Friday, June 3, with one of the incidents resulting in minor injuries and the arrest of a Syracuse man. Dan K. Smith, 18, Syracuse was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility, no motorcycle endorsement, and an expired license plate after a 3:50 p.m. collision last Wednesday. Smith was traveling north on Lakeview drive when he turned a corner wide and entered the southbound lane of a bridge.

Another vehicle, driven south by Thomas A. White, 32, Syracuse, stopped at the top of the bridge as Smith laid down the motorcycle. The bike hit the left front fenderof the White vehicle and slid partially underneath the frame. The warmest month of June came in 1934 when temperatures averaged 74.6 F., and the coldest June months were back in 1926 and 1928 when temperatures averaged 62.82 F. The record warmest June day was in 1934 when the temperature soared to 104 F. on June 1. The record coldest day was June 23,1918 when the temperature dropped to 32 F. The normal average for precipitation in the month of June is 3.64 inches of rain. The high was in 1981 when we had 8.8 inches of rain, while the low for precipitation was in 1966 with 1.38 inches.
