Guimond signs with Vincennes

VINCENNES - Cyndi Guimond of rural Warsaw, has accepted an athletic scholarship to compete next season for the Vincennes University’s women’s swimming and diving team. The 1988 Wawasee High School graduate was an Indiana High School Athletic Association sectional champion this past season in the 100 breaststroke. She also placed 21st in the IHSAA state meet. Guimond was the Northern Lakes Conference champion in the 100-yard breaststroke. She earned most valuable and high point honors for the Warriors this past season. “Cyndi has shown rapid improvement in her last two years of high school, and I expect her times to drop greatly when she starts swimming year around,” said VU head coach Harry Wilkens. Guimond’s best time in the 100 breaststroke — 1:11.6 — is within 2.4 seconds of the Vincennes school record. Guinlond joins a program that has finished as the women’s na-

WHS tennis camp SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School tennis camp will begin Monday, June 6, according to Cindy Peterson. The camp will have two-two-week sessions for beginners to advanced players. The first camp msl start the first week of June and continue until June 17. The second session begins June 20 and runs through July 1. Time for the sessions are 8 a.m. until 12-noon. Registration begins Tuesday, May 31 at the high school. Information about the camps will be sent to corporation junior high schools this week. Good idea Few question the benefit of taking a brisk early-morning walk. Few take such walks.
