Plans are finalized for police camps
Indiana State Police, Larry D. Furnas has announced that plans for the 1988 Respect for Law and Career Camps have been finalized and applications are being accepted from students statewide. Although the three to six day camps are held at selected university campuses during June, July and August, students should get their applications in as rooms available are limited. “Those teens wishing to attend this summer’s camp program need to get their application in soon,” Furnas said. “We encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about law enforcement in Indiana.” The programs teach students to discipline and demonstrate the rewards of hard work and dedication. Campers have the opportunity to learn about criminal justice and law enforcement in general and are able to interact with police officers one-on-one. “The camps are not only set up

to provide a valuable learning experience but to also promote comradery and recreation,” said Ernie Alder, Youth Services director. “The students are encouraged to participate in team sports or swimming during freetime from the classroom,” added Alder. The camps are held at five major universities in Indiana which for many teens, provide their firet contact with higher education. “There is a strong emphasis on education and many times, those few days at camp will help the kids decide to go on to college after high school,” Alder said. Some campers go on to become law enforcement officers, attorneys or some facet of criminal justice. The restated net income and earnings per share include the cumulative effect on all prior years of the change in accounting for taxes. Dana reported increased sales in all of its markets. Sales of vehicular components to the original equipment manufacturers were 21 percent higher than a year ago, led by a 40 percent increase in medium and heavy truck components. Since this is a change from prior years, during 1988 we will also provide our shareholders and the public with comparative financial statements that exclude Diamond Financial Holdings, Inc. In addition, we will compare this year’s results with both the 1987 results as they were originally reported and those results as restated to reflect the changes from the adoption of FAS 94 and FAS 96.”
