of the Year programs, according to DNR Director Jim Ridenour. Four anglers landed recordsetting catches in 1988, and another 26 species qualified as fish of the year. Record fish are the largest ever caught in Indiana for the species, while fish of the year are the largest caught during a calendar year. The DNR’s Division of Fish and Wildlife recognizes 44 categories for record fish and fish of the year. Rules and entry forms for both programs can be found in the 1988 Indiana fishing regulations, available where licenses are sold. Local award winner is brown trout, 16 lbs., 8 oz. caught by Stephen Holt of Warsaw. 3 injured in 2-vehicle accident Two Syracuse men and a Fort Wayne resident were injured in a two-vehicle accident which occurred Friday, March 18, at 5: 55 p.m. at the intersection of SR 1350 W and SR 19 south of Nappanee. Lavern Cornett, 24, North Street, Syracuse, was driving west on CR 1350 W when he disregarded a stop sign at SR 19 and struck a car broadside which was driven by Robert Douglas, 39, Fort Wayne. Cornett was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital with a head injury and possible spinal injuries. He has since been released. A passenger in his auto, Glen Wilkie, 23, 539 American Way, Syracuse, was treated and released at KCH for lacerations and contusions. Douglas was treated and later released from Elkhart Hospital for lacerations and contusions to the head. Cornett was driving a 1983 Ford Escort and Douglas a 1979 Volkswagen Rabbit. Indiana State Police Sgt. Neil Beck investigated the accident.
